Eh, a part of the ticket money could easily go to a map and diagram refresh fund; updating once every five years or so would work.
Mind you, I don't recall maps on top of the Eiffel tower either.
Locally, we do have a diorama of the city; no labels tho

The other thing that I found quite irksome is that the Empire State doesn't have outline diagrams, maps or guides around its viewing windows telling you what you're looking out at.
The Chrysler building? downtown? New Jersey? it's all classed the same: Things Outside Not of Corporate Interest.
