I don’t know how widespread this is, but a recent agency-level order has removed mentions of a goal to get to zero accidental deaths. That goal was always aspirational, but are we switching over to analytically-derived goals or just not setting goals at all? Not an equity issue…something else?

This year we will see if social divisions and ideology win out over data and experience. Transportation policy has been focused on the Safe System approach for awhile.
