An undergrad and 1st year PhD student in our lab just did their respective study registrations, another 1st year PhD student is preparing a stage 1 RR. We just had a lab journal club on OS & TOP guidelines last week. No extra coursework.

I’m sure @Kevin’s registrations are excellent! We do what we can and are always learning and improving. OS doesn’t have to be a separate course and should be infused in everything we do.

2/ Tax-paying infrastructure allows lifesaving research to be done and trains the future generation who go on to support our society. On top of that, NIH expenditures MAKE money for the economy and create jobs across professions at all levels. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Why can’t we all be Benjamin Button…

Ah, yes, I can see that. I encounter this as AE on regular full manuscripts too. Like it has SOME potential, but a bit far from where it needs to be for broad impact. Yes, it can be revised, but then at what point it becomes MY paper/vision?

That IS* kind of the point of an RR, tho, isn’t it? It’s a more collaborative way to strengthen science and reporting transparency before the study is done?

What does “weaker studies” mean? State 1 RRs are evaluated by theoretical and empirical importance and methodological rigor and details, so if studies are weak on either or both of these, they should be rejected, no?

Yum. I miss that place!

Applicants don’t need to email me. Prior contacts are not weighed at all, and I am unable to arrange meetings ahead of application deadline. See our department & lab websites for info. If anyone needs any convincing… PNW is pretty great, too.

We study how culture, ethnicity, race, and racism affect mental health & drug use. Goal of our research is to advance health equity + community impact. We do so with rigorous & transparent methods.
