Deadline for abstract submissions for this is Friday 28th Feb. Looks like a fantastic conference.

I listened to this episode and I actually found some of what Chris Hayes to be interesting, the analogies that he draws between attention and the alienation of labor are at least heuristically provocative... podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/p...

I am glad to see sloth communism is (slowly) spreading.

A discussion on work and burnout, prompted by @drrobertchapman.bsky.social ‘s brilliant Empire of Normality. A shoutout to @kristinhersh.bsky.social too.

Still one of my favorite responses to Slow Down (by @drrobertchapman.bsky.social )

Was checking to see what had been written on trumpism as a millenarian movement (surprisingly little) and amused to see that John gray seems to have missed this despite apparently thinking that every other movement of the past four centuries years has been grounded in millenarianism.

Such a fascinating analogy @reproutopia.bsky.social draws between TERFism & nationalism: “It’s almost like a nationalism of sex....At the psychic level, they want strong borders, & they want to make sexuation great again.”

For the first time in over 20 years, Israel has deployed tanks in the West Bank, after expelling 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps. This is a prelude to full annexation, and makes a mockery of the ceasefire agreement that Israel continues to violate. [1/3]

Not sure if I know anyone who works on witches here but I'm trying to find if there are any early modern examples (especially in England) of women who were accused of being witches then proudly affirming or reclaiming their (purported) witch status. Can anyone help?

Has anything good been written on contemporary fascist billionaires in relation to theories of power? My sense is that the world has fundamentally changed and 20th century theories of power no longer fit, if they ever did.

This has made my day!

🥳🥳🥳 The amazing and important book Empire of Normality by @drrobertchapman.bsky.social is finally out on Audible! Hasn't been enough for me to borrow it on Perlego until I was able to buy a physical copy in Denmark - now I can listen to it as well 😅❤️ You should too 😉

Audiobook freaks! The audio version of Empire of Normality: Neurodiversity and Capitalism is out now! www.audible.co.uk/pd/B0DW13845...

A key reason DEI has been easy to dismantle in the U.S. is that it's grounded more in policy, law, and consensus than in collective power. As fascism spreads this is something all of us need to recognise and prepare for. Any protection not based in collective power will be swept away.

Do I have any mutuals in NYC? Asking as I've never been and may go for a few days while I'm in the U.S. this year.

U.S. colleagues and comrades, take a look at the CFP if you haven't seen it already. I'll be there. biopoliticalphilosophy.com/2025/02/12/f...

I prefer Christopher Hill to pretty much any other Marxist historian. For me, he was doing something that would now be called hauntology, looking for revolutions that could have happened but didn't.

I've now written the introduction to my next book. The framework I use for this one's more in dialogue with Foucault and Christopher Hill. I wish more people read Hill today.

"Like the abolitionists of the 19th century arrayed against the planter class, today we need to break the economic, ideological and political foundations of billionaire rule." @lfelizleon.bsky.social for @inthesetimesmag.bsky.social inthesetimes.com/article/labo...

As DOGE began infiltrating government agencies and targeting federal staff for termination, I started interviewing tech workers on the front lines. With the mass layoffs unfolding today, and with their permission, I'm sharing their stories. This is what it's been like to endure Musk's campaign.

This bill still has to go through the House and get the governor’s signature, all of which is very likely. It is deeply unpopular across the state. Please help us raise hell about it.

I’ve been reading this article and being a plain speaking autistic blue collar worker @drrobertchapman.bsky.social ideas intrigue me. Has the left came to the conclusion that there is a huge gap in their politics and neurodiversity is key to real change? anticapitalistresistance.org/towards-neur...

Always found it strange that left Nietzscheans don't focus on the role of love in his thought - just such an obviously relevant resource, especially if we want to avoid everything terrible in Nietzsche.

Excellent article on a hugely important victory for autistic people.

top tip for cis people who want to be allies it is good that you have correctly identified the problem of "no one fucking listens to trans people" but that doesn't mean the solution is "cisgender allies should therefore lead trans representation". the solution is amplifying trans voices!
