The #TeslaTakedown website is live! It helps you find an action near you. "Take action at Tesla showrooms everywhere. Sell your Teslas, dump your stock, join the picket lines. Hurting Tesla is stopping Musk. Stopping Musk will help save lives & our democracy" HT @alexwinter.com www.teslatakedown.com

“You were ONLY supposed to be RACIST”

What we’re seeing is a pushback against the gains EDI has made in making things a little fairer for historically underrepresented groups. Let’s call it what it is: a reunion of privilege, dressed up as ‘fairness.’ #BBCQT

The shallow, low-brow take on EDI on #BBCQT is embarrassing. The idea that we should have only some consciousness of inequality is nonsense. You can’t be half-aware of injustice—you either commit to total consciousness or you reinforce the status quo.

Shameful misappropriation of MLK on #BBCQT. The idea that Trump opposing DEI is akin to ‘judging people by character, not colour’ is absurd. MLK fought for structural equality, not for ignoring race to uphold existing inequalities. Twisting his words to defend discrimination is disgraceful.

Stop fucking saying he blamed “DEI,” which is some abstract, non-tangible idea. He is blaming people of color having jobs he thinks they aren’t qualified for. He’s blaming race. He’s being racist every time he says it. Journalists need to get fucking backbones, my word.

England's children's homes run by private equity rake in millions. Private firms own 83% of homes. Average charge for a child in care is £281,000 a year. Some charge £63,000 a week per child. For-profit homes provide the worse care. End privatisation scam. www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/market...

Tamworth could’ve earned £500k+ from a replay at Spurs: Gate receipts: £2m total (62k fans x £40 avg ticket), with Tamworth getting 55% (~£1.1m). TV fee: ~£85k for live broadcast. Merch & other revenue: Likely tens of thousands. Scrapping replays denies non-league clubs this vital income.

Newcastle United’s SH01 form shows 1 share with a nominal value of £0.05 allotted for £15m. Legal if valuation supports it, but raises questions about compliance, AML, and transparency. Directors must ensure governance and disclosure—false filings breach the Companies Act 2006.

In a claustropolitan world, where public spaces like football terraces feel increasingly enclosed by surveillance, hyper-nationalism, and digital echo chambers, discriminatory chanting reflects the suffocation of critical thought. www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk//sport/footb...

Excited to share my next chapter! After fulfilling years with the Sport Management group at Carnegie School of Sport, I’m moving to Leeds Business School. This role lets me broaden my focus on social justice, media, and digital culture—building on, not departing from, my work in sport and leisure.

FIFA have given the Saudi bid for 2034 the same 4.1/5 score for its stadiums - despite eight not yet built - as they gave to the Canada-Mexico-USA bid for 2026, all of which are built, many of which are world leading NFL stadia. I mean, how? www.nytimes.com/athletic/595...

Joint Statement: Award of 2034 men’s World Cup to Saudi Arabia risks lives & exposes FIFA’s empty human rights commitments. Ronan Evain, Executive Director of Football Supporters Europe, said: "Today is a dark day for human rights and football as a whole." 1/3

FIFA’s evaluation of Saudi Arabia’s World Cup bid is an astonishing whitewash of the country’s atrocious human rights record. www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...

As Virlio would have it, awarding the World Cup to Saudi Arabia is an “integral accident”—a contradiction of Fifa's statutes that doesn’t derail the football machine, but reinterprets it. Each scandal and outcry merely accelerates the spectacle, reinforcing claustroplis and profit over principle.

Wrapped up my final day on campus at the Carnegie School of Sport with a surprise catch-up with my friends who all in different ways supported my PhD back in 2013. I owe a lot to them for their support and guidance along the way. Grateful for the memories—onwards to a new challenge in the new year!

Strange contribution from the woman complaining about wind farms on farmland, saying it should grow ‘food we actually eat’—completely ignoring that we need energy to cook that food. Logic blown away, much like the wind. #bbcqt

Farage is clearly struggling under scrutiny as an MP—his usual bluster has cranked up to full volume. When the shouting gets louder, the arguments get weaker. Empty vessels make the most noise as the saying goes. #bbcqt

Small boat crossings account for less than 4% of total migration to the UK (37k out of 1.2m arrivals in 2023). Yet, they dominate headlines. Why? Refrom party hyperbole feeds fear, not facts. Let’s focus on the bigger picture. #bbcqt

The website vs app split for Bluesky vs Threads captures the difference in user base and usage patterns beautifully. Bluesky = knowledge sector workers who have it open all day in a tab next to their emails. “Wait what was I doing again?” Threads = normies watching recipe videos on the commute.
