Surprised by this at my doorstep, but humbled by the recognition! Such a great reminder to keep doing the work & the community will find it. Thank you to the faculty who nominated me, Dr. Thandi Sulé & grateful to my ACPA & @acpa_disability family for the support & honor!

There’s still time to register! Happening Feb 28th. Link below.

I was set to fly to ACPA today, support colleagues, and receive my Coalition for Disability award, but recent weeks have been challenging for one reason or another, and I’ve had to pull back my trip. Sending traveling mercies to all, as I attend to a very recent & time sensitive family emergency.

Nice write up! blogs.bsu.edu/teachers-col...

Are non-US academics changing any travel plans that involve the USA? E.g. reconsidering non-essential conferences, turning down invites, or is it business as usual? #AcademicSky

Let's be strategic and help all those who are getting laid off. Perhaps we can create a list of job openings or offer intros based on your network. We are all in this together. Thoughts?

A win despite a very challenging week. When all else fails, the words will be on the page, the rhythms in my stanzas, or the visuals on my canvas. Grateful to be able to share what is slowly becoming my universe of work. Piece by piece.

First time shipping out a painting that I gifted my friend & it made me so happy to see her with it. I was so scared UPS was gonna make a mistake but nope, they got it right! Gratifying and joyful!

Honoring the memory of a literary giant who has become an ancestor Velma Pollard (born 1937). A Jamaican poet and fiction writer, among Pollard’s most noteworthy works are Shame Trees Don’t Grow Here (1991). She is the sister of Erna Brodber, another Jamaican literary treasure.

Excited to announce my participation as a panelist in the upcoming AERA Div G webinar! Looking forward to engaging with my colleagues on this timely topic. RSVP details can be found in the first slide. #Webinar #Panelist #EducationResearch

Going to sleep saying extra prayers for those in the DC area crash. I don’t have words.

My occasional reminder to folks on tenure and promotion committees that there will be a cohort of people whose early careers were defined entirely by the pandemic and *waves vaguely* this nonsense, and it *will* impact their productivity. It can't not.

Exciting, making edits on a manuscript where Rihanna, Brandy, Lauryn lyrics are cited. This is the wildest thing I’ve written yet & I can’t wait to see how and where/when it lands.

Well, this is exciting. Coming in June from Amistad/HarperCollins.

Hubs & I had a great time at the @BallStateGYM meet today! But now, we’re back home waiting for the @Commanders to bring it home with a W! #chirpchirp #weFly #MACtion #RaiseHail

Sometimes I’m developing ideas that seem so very not at all connected, but they absolutely are. The trick is pulling them together in ways that are clear and consistent. That, is HARD and FOCUSED work. #professoring

Trying to collect info in one place for folks. Things are moving quickly. The multiply marginalized will be disparately impacted, especially BlPOC, immigrant, and/or queer disabled folks. Here's the round up from week 1.

Excited to share that I've been invited to deliver a keynote address at my Alma Mater, the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Neurodiversity & Disability Studies Summit is via the Developmental Disabilities & Human Services program, & Dr. Woodman. For more: websites.umass.edu/ddhs/summit2...

I’ve turned into the professor with 2 distinct piles of papers & books on my desk depending on what I’m working with in that time frame. And maybe it’s a little ADHD 😉. I’m trying to keep my desk organized but it’s 0-1 at the moment.

I can only imagine what it’s like in Detroit right now. What’s happening in our old apartment complex.

And they won!!!!! What if they make it to the Super Bowl?!!

Also, my husband is having all the emotions watching his Commanders play the Lions. I hope his team wins!

Look at me, resisting TikTok for so long & my husband got me into it. Now I’m scrolling like a fiend til it kicks us out.

Anyone have recommendations for how to digitize/create a virtual image of an aspect, thereby a (model) of a research paper? Any non AI recommendations? Preferably.

First two weeks of the semester are done and whew! This prof is tiyahhhd. I am working, okayyyyy???!!!

Thrilled to announce my selection to join the Editorial Board of NASPA’s Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education for a 3-year term commencing in March 2025. Your submissions are welcome!

Summer funding for PhD students interested in the Audre Lorde Papers 🎓🌈

At least 11 librarians in LA lost their homes in the LA Fires. A thread of their gofundmes:

This island, Caribbean gyal is deeply moved by the new Bad Bunny album. Give it all of its things. #islandsky #Benito

Now that the news is out, I can talk about it. I’m grateful for the recognition & to be the 2025 recipient of the Intersectionality Award from ACPA & the ACPA Coalition for Disability. What an honor & I am excited to tell more stories at the junction of race, gender, disability, & class. #ACPA25

First day of my semester!! Leggggo!
