Important message from this study on emergency front of neck access for CICO: Making the decision is the hardest part; the doing is easier.

There are a lot of acronyms involved in the treatment of cancer! As a part of our Oncoanaesthesia edition, Weaver & @DrSusannahP.bsky.social provide an overview of common neoadjuvant regimens and their toxicities. #AnSky #MedSky #OncSky https://buff.ly/42enyI9

Really proud of this article. I hope it explains how the expansion of cancer treatments is both benefitting patients and moving into our realm of anaesthesia. #AnSky #MedSky #OncSky #FOAMEd

Another excellent article from the Oncoanaesthesia special edition in our sister journal @anaesjournal.bsky.social Anaesthetic management of patients living with cancer who are pregnant. #FOAMEd #AnSky #MedSky #obstetrics

Floods then ice in Manchester. Some really pretty puddles that my kids enjoyed stamping on.

A very wet Manchester today. We’re not flooded but we have friends who are very worried if it rains again. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live...

Jog through the Manchester fog. #running

This year my boys decided that Santa wanted a shot of lemon gin (straight, no tonic 😬), a gluten free mince pie - homemade because Santa likes homemade better and would leave more presents and the obligatory carrot for the reindeer. Santa made a mess of our hearth to say thank you… #Christmas #AnSky

Well done @yavorrm.bsky.social !

At number 4 of our most read of 2024. This report gave us great insights on whether we abandon ‘no trace, wrong place’ https://buff.ly/3N8w42L And FYI the subsequent correspondence reinforcing the term ‘sustained ETCO2’ from @Chrimesy.com https://buff.ly/3WdiW1p #Ansky #FOAMEd #airway 🎄🧝‍♀️🎁

What I do when I’m not gassing.. #baking for one of the reasons it took me sooo long to complete #anaesthesia training. (He’s a big #Kirby fan) #AnSky

Another great reason to use #videolaryngoscopy, looking very carefully at where we are putting the ET tube. #AnSky #airway #airwaySky

No coffee, no gassy… #AnSky

And now I want to build my own #TIVA tree! #AnSky

Congratulations to Pod 3 at The Royal Adelaide Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional Christmas tree, kindly provided by the awesome @kolygate.bsky.social. An exceptional effort bravo!! #MedSky #AnSky #recycle

What is a ‘safe dose’ of LA? I read an article when training on how we should avoid using traditional ‘safe mg/kg doses’ and think more about the site, the patient, co-morbidities etc. I can’t remember where I read this but it’s something that’s stayed with me. Even so, this case is a rare event!

Interesting work. Just reviewed the evidence on TXA and onco-Anaesthesia for an article I wrote. No evidence of increased thromboembolic events and in certain surgeries decreases blood loss. Yes I think we should be looking at how we get regular TXA use implemented. Well done @swarnak.bsky.social 👏

Our QI report on implementing @rcoanews.bsky.social @collegeofsurgeons.bsky.social Tranexamic Acid (#TXA) guidance into routine local practice is now published @anaesthesiareports.bsky.social Education, Stakeholder Engagement, Use of WHO checklists and more. #TXA #PBM #qualityimprovement.

I’m new to Bluesky! Transferring some of my favourite posts from the other place. This is me ‘doctoring’ the #Lego set bought for my son to make the Doctor female. And I’m pretty sure that’s an #anaesthetist! #anaesthesia #AnSky

Difficult #airway management in Treacher Collins syndrome. The authors found that unexpectedly neck flexion produced the best views. Airway enthusiasts - what is your take on this very challenging case? https://buff.ly/3B2FEBM #anaesthesia #difficultairway #paedsanaesthesia #openaccess
