It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Morning walks with the pup are a nice way to start the day before the temp rises to . . . (*checks weather app*) 90 degrees.

Join us next Wednesday (25/6) 5:30-7:30 in person at the IHR and online for our final seminar of 2024-5 to hear David Turner ( Swansea University) present his paper ‘Histories of Resistance: Disability, Agency & Embodiment in the Long Eighteenth Century’ @ihr.bsky.social shorturl.at/hMRGz

What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders? White cotton gloves are not for use with paper-based books. We use them for some photographs and artifacts, but for handling “regular” rare books the professional standard has been clean, dry hands for decades.

Bookshop in Chartres.

I've been trying to reflect on the loss of my mother (one year ago), and struck by the fact that grief is both frustratingly abstract and intensely concrete.

(sigh)

I've been loving my new truck. I guess as long as I don't put a gun rack in the cab it'll be ok.

Ah, Telluride.

Yacht rock summer?

Norm! R.I.P. George, Wendt.

I’ve done all of these except read ahead to the ending.

Anyone out there have Type 1 diabetes and have issues with using Dexcom G7s? These seem to be failing too often (unlike the G6s).

It’s possible I now drive a truck.

Is it possible new car smell is the smell of freedom?

When I started in my current position, there were 12 faculty in my department. In that time we’ve had 7 retirements and two deaths. We’ll see at least 2 retirements in the next two years and it’s looking like we’ll end up with 8-9 faculty as lines have not been renewed.

I love my students! And my colleagues! And I hate how few raises I’ve received in my decade-plus of working with them all!

“I will be unreachable for much of the summer and can respond to email only sporadically despite being at home or other places where Internet access is readily available.”

The older I get the more I realize there's a Blake poem for just about every situation in my life.
