"Women are more likely than men to be in jobs at risk of being automated" YES THAT'S BECAUSE THE BROLIGARCHS DON'T THINK THE WORK WE DO IS MEANINGFUL. It's not hard to understand why the tech bros are pushing this so hard.

Reading. Is. The. Point.

I am a researcher in a field that necessarily challenges multiple versions of the status quo and believe us when we say LLMs make it *increasingly* hard to do that. LLMs don't just return the status quo. They amplify and reinforce the status quo.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Hoooy boy. Paper wasps may be docile but they punch far above their weight if you piss one off. Apologies to my neighbors for the words I hollered in the garden a little while ago.

The Trump Administration's cuts to foreign aid and scientific research have led to the termination of public health efforts to combat tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases. Durham-based nonprofit FHI360 ran those programs. www.wunc.org/term/news/20...

well, that sure was a gaslighty email

Ducks sake y'all, she's a middle schooler now, growing like a weed, and STILL can't keep pace with #TruckBloat #OversizedDeathMachine #Pickup #Truck

Whether visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, almost all of us will have or know someone with a disability. As Mayor, I’ll fight like hell for truly accessible public transit.

yes, this is eugenics and it's shit our laws have always been based on a 'prove you and those like you have been harmed and then maybe you get to be a protected class' mentality though. only a specific and increasingly narrowly-defined sociodemographic has ever been granted human dignity by default

"chaotic and menacing" lol. Have you seen your roads, @nytimes.com?

As someone who created a global database of stuff that happened in streets back in 2020, I can confirm that @nytimes.com's claim of having a complete accounting of stuff that happened in streets after 24 hours is absurd and also very very dumb

we can confirm that hillsborough, chapel hill, pittsboro, greensboro, asheville, and durham NC (and the outer banks) all had #nokings protests - none of them are on the NYTimes map.

So much of the “promise” of AI right now is saving time creating. Let me say it from my chest: all I want is to spend *more* time creating. I’m not making content. I’m engaging in my vocation, my calling, my literal reason for existing.
