Nice STEP prep on inequalities involving algebraic symmetry. It also develops the understanding of under which conditions your proof is valid.

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

A colleague and I have an article in the new Mathematics in School aiming to demystify maths degrees - the right course can be a great option for students with B/C grades! #MathsToday #ALevelMaths #ITeachMaths

I’m running STEP online sessions for all our applicants. In my first session I covered functional equations. Such nice questions! I really like this one:

A request - are there any suggestions of papers on EDI & access to instrumentation/facilities in Universities/Major Facilities - especially with things concerning barriers and/or approaches to improve access with an EDI-lens in mind? 🧪

And as this gains attention outside of scientific circles, as it surely will, @deevybee.bsky.social will undoubtedly face a great deal of harassment. Other fellows of the @royalsociety.bsky.social will have to decide whether she faces it alone or not.

A principled and selfless act by Prof Bishop in resigning her FRS honours in protest of the Royal Society’s reluctance to withdraw the honours they awarded to Mu$k. My own experiences with RS are completely consistent with this account. Their leadership totally incapable of admitting to mistakes.

Being made an FRS is for many a lifetime achievement. @deevybee.bsky.social's principled resignation from the fellowship due to the @royalsociety.bsky.social's continued support of that guy, should give the RS serious pause to consider their values. 🧪 www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

In #MathsToday, do you tell stories in your maths lessons? I always try to create a narrative in my lectures with varying degrees of success.
