Amusing to see the Efficient Market™ reveal TSLA stock had a corruption premium of >$100 billion, additional value untethered to the company's performance or even policy/legislation, but rather solely to a belief Musk had the President's favor, which he no longer does. P.S. Now down 10.5%

Elon Musk has punched Trump harder in the past two hours than most Democrats in Congress have done since Trump took office. That is part of the problem for us, Dems!

To be clear, this would have been good to do even if Musk didn't exist. It's not ok for the US to be wholly dependent on one private company for all its satellite launches.

i begged the dem run senate to just have a damn hearing on spacex. nothing.

One thing about SpaceX is that in the near and perhaps medium term the USG really can’t cut those contracts. It doesn’t have an alternative, which has always been a very dangerous situation. What’s more viable is some kind of expropriation or nationalization.

Impossible to overstate how important data collection and analysis was to the progressive reforms of the past 90 years. If you don’t have accurate facts, it’s much harder to move policy.

Today is the Women’s Bureau’s 105th anniversary, and what did DOL Secretary Chavez DeRemer get for WB? Zero. Literally. Her FY26 budget eliminates it. I talked to @motherjones.com‬’s @juliannemcshane.bsky.social‬ about how GOP attacks on WB hurt women 🧵 #SaveWB www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

The New York Times insists on treating Christopher Rufo not as a far-right activist who has been successfully pushing an ideologically defined rightwing agenda, but as a respectable conservative voice and a serious interlocutor on key political issues. That is an active, deliberate choice.

I think this is likely true

I think a lot of hard left accounts on here don’t fully realize the extent to which the center-left genuinely believes they made a good faith effort to reach out which was met with rejection, betrayal, and libel. You may not think it accurate or fair, but the belief is sincerely held.

Extremely hot take: sex workers should be allowed to bring fee shifting private rights of action against clients who don't pay them, and the lawsuits they bring should be inadmissible in any criminal proceedings against them.

Much of the media will hold Democrats accountable for the words of a random liberal online but give Republicans a free pass on the white nationalists and conspiracy theorists they actually meet with in person and follow online.

a good thing to ask yourself when pursuing a broad political strategy is “would this have prevented the civil rights movement?”

When Obama and Biden won, Republicans said “fuck them, we’ll break them” and went on to rally their base. When Republicans win, Democrats blame their left and say “we’ll work with Republicans.” And it fucking sucks.

CBS: Craven Navy leadership to rename ships named after Thurgood Marshal, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Harvey Milk, Harriet Tubman, Delores Huerta, Lucy Stone, Cesar Chavez, and Medgar Evers. God forbid American servicemen and women learn you don’t have to be White to make your life count.

An inspiring story: U Mich president withdraws his signature on a letter defending academic freedom because he wants to leave and get paid to join Ron DeSantis's war on higher education, and then doesn't get the Florida job because he supports vaccination www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2025/06/haha...

So much this.

Me to Joanne: Just want to be clear, in an apocalypse I’m going to be relying entirely upon you. Joanne: I’m very aware of that.

again, this staggering idiot — this living monument to gross stupidity — is basically the intellectual guru of the sitting vice president

Had day surgery and am high as a KITE. Ask me anything. (not about the surgery, ask me about anything else)

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was once politely asked to leave a restaurant and it generated 100x as much handwringing from the media as this will

The inevitable result of a party culture obsessed with poll-based optimization, whose political commitments boil down to turning a dial called racism while constantly looking back at the audience like the price is right www.cnn.com/2025/06/01/p...
