The overall situation is scary and awful, but I have to admit that I chuckled in the car this morning when the local news said that the measles guy who is/was in central Texas was at Twin Peaks on Valentine's Day.

Out smelling new smells.

As President Trump and Elon Musk move to dismantle the federal workforce and cut spending, those tasked with repatriating missing Americans fear their mission is in jeopardy.

Just watched Conclave and man, what a picture.

friend, i couldn’t help but notice the boot on my neck has its laces untied

I can do a forward facing split. I CANNOT do one while steadily balancing another super strong person above my head with just my arms. JESUS she is strong.

Call it the Musk-Trump Veteran Firing Program. Nearly a third of the federal workers are veterans, and the figure is much higher at DoD. Musk and Trump are going to fire tens of thousands of American veterans, on top of the thousands they already fired. “Thank you for your service, you’re fired.”

I'm just a nobody who has only been doing PR for the past 20+ years, but boy howdy, that video is a hard watch.

Welcome to the Cool Zone y'all.

Apropos of nothing, I got my final paycheck from the Pentagon yesterday.

Firing all the JAGs is very very bad

Rah Virginia Mil I guess?

A female admiral. A Black general.

Ugh, this sucks.

Measles cases are rising in the U.S. Do adults need a vaccine booster? This @NPR piece says yes for older adults who were born after 1957 and were vaccinated before 1968. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

OSD PA to media:

An unexpected thing, but now that I'm back in Austin I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I missed listening to @kutnews.bsky.social on my work commutes.

“I knew someone on AA5432.” That was the subject of an email NPR host Adrian Ma sent to newsroom leaders in the hours after the DC plane crash. He trusted us with sharing his story — and her contagious energy. www.npr.org/2025/02/20/g...

The next Bond movie will be titled "Time to Die Mister Bond, Handcrafted Artisanal Film Movie for Men – Perfecf Christmas Gift and Funny Realistic Spy Gag, Harmless Entertainment Prank for Kids and Adults, Realistic Vanilla Scent 7.9 Ounce Motion Picture (Pack of 1)"

On this 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima, I remember the time back in 2007 when I got to cover a JPAC team searching for the remains of Sgt. Bill Genaust - the Marine who filmed the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi. Walking that island was a truly humbling experience.

“Yeah, the king of chaos.” - Hakeem Jeffries, in 12 hours, after running several tweets through surveys.

Are you a recently dismissed federal employee? MSNBC.com is looking for first-person pieces about what you were working on, why you joined the government, etc. We're interested in hearing from air traffic controllers, USAID employees, and everyone in between. Contact me at jdow.92 on Signal.

Whoa - that's a big deal.

I thought I left this weather in Virginia.

Thinking of all the incredibly talented public affairs fellows I had the chance to work with the past two summers at OCPA who are all now probationary employees and must be going through emotional hell right now.

Anecdotally it looks like a lot of PAO types are getting canned - which matches up with what happened when Twitter got bought and the media team was fired.

If you are looking for a puppy in central Texas, and you’re looking for something in the stuffed animal department, you’d be hard pressed to find one cuter than Margarita here. Of all her siblings, she’s the one no one has asked about. Reach out if you want me to connect you to her people.

Yeah, definitely not getting on an airplane any time soon.

This company has so few redeeming features compared to the harm it does already, but here's another reason it sucks.

Drove 750 miles today, and just housed a chicken fried steak and 22 oz beer - time to sleep hard.

Found out one of my former soldiers - an Iraq and Afghanistan vet who took this photo the government has used *everywhere* the past decade - was one of the VA employees kicked to the curb yesterday. She's an amazing comms professional and single mom, and I'm fucking livid this happened to her.

Now that I'm no longer an employee of OCPA (as of midnight!), just going to chime in to say that every Army post in this thread sucks ass and goes against the core value that the nonpartisan professional communicators there once stood for.

And away we go.

Jesus we're fucked.

Asked my wife how old she thought he was (we're both in our 40s) and she said 62.

Unrelated, tomorrow is my official last day as a HQDA employee. ✌️

If you see this, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery if you have one

A great conversation with my wife during today's @bottlenecknyc.bsky.social drop:

"Neither snow nor rain..."

I think it’s a good time to re-watch Chernobyl, primarily as an exercise in understanding what a state that operates on maximum distrust looks like.

Playing Dungeons and Dragons during a free period in high school. Had my books confiscated and didn't get them back until the end of the year after having to go to a meeting between my dad and the vice principal. Got the whole apocryphal talk about the guy getting hit by a bus and everything.
