Firefighters from Dolphins Barn responded to a seagull in distress last night. Using a 10.5m ladder, the seagull was freed, taken to the ground to rest, before flying off. D Watch Dolphins Barn are making a habit of this animal rescue business!

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn had a familiarisation visit to Marsh's Libary earlier today. #DidYouKnow The library opened to the public in 1707 and some of the literature survived the 1916 rising and still have the bullet marks on show today.

Firefighters from Swords, along with ambulances from Tara Street and Kilbarrack attended this road traffic collision in #Lusk earlier. The road was closed for a short period whilst the scene was made safe.

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn received this award from PETA, following a successful rescue of a family pet last month.

Over the weekend, crews from Tara Street, Phibsborough and North Strand took part in refresher training on our inflatable sled, ahead of a planned exercise next week.

Phibsborough firefighters were called to a street sweeper alight this week. Commercial vehicles can be challenging to extinguish due to their cargo and hydraulic systems.

Today 25 firefighters from Class 2/2024 passed out from our training centre including two from @LimerickFire and one from @louthcoco The silver axe award for best recruit went to R/FF John Dever and the entire class presented a cheque for over €7,500 to @OscarsKidsIE

Firefighter/Paramedics from Tallaght Fire Station responded to a road traffic collision on the #M50 between J9-J7 Southbound earlier today. A second collision occurred 100 metres from the original incident. If you are approaching an incident: Slow down, prepare to stop.

After 33 years service Firefighter/Paramedic Paddy Carey has said goodbye to Dolphins Barn fire station. Paddy served his entire career in Dolphins Barn and became a mentor to all on D Watch with his vast operational experience. Thanks Paddy, for everything.

Firefighters from Alpha District took part in a tall and complex building drill over the weekend. One of the tools we can use is a fog nail. After drilling, a lance delivers water onto the fire. It allows firefighters to deal with deep seated fires.

Firefighters from Dun Laoghaire and Donnybrook took part in a tall and complex exercise earlier today. Exercises like these are extremely important to help us keep up our skills.

Congratulations to the latest batch of Swiftwater Rescue Technician Instructors. The course ran for 3 and a half weeks and students were put through their paces. They have all been awarded their instructors certificate by Rescue 3

HGV Awareness for our Road Traffic Collision Instructors Course this week. Thanks to Micheal Corduff of Golden Mile commercials (part of the Corduff Travel Group) and driver Sean McGrath for taking the time to come to our training centre.

Firefighters from Finglas, along with a District Officer responded to a malicious activation of a break glass unit in an apartment complex in Finglas. In total, two Fire Engines and one District Officer were dispatched to the scene. Never press a break glass unit unless you suspect a fire.

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn were requested to assist the @DublinSPCA earlier this morning. A seagull got entangled in fishing line and stuck in a tree. We often assist animal rescue organisations when extra skills/equipment is required.

#ThrowbackThursday This week in 1972 #Kilbarrack Fire Station opened. The full-time station was built as a replacement for #Howth retained station, and cost IR£127,820 to build. Refurbished in 2010/11 it became known as the Green Station, becoming a carbon neutral building #tbt

Dublin Fire Brigades Hurling season came to an end last night. Our team was knocked out by a strong Tipperary teachers side, ETB Tipperary. Very good first season for the squad who represented the brigade with pride. We hope to strengthen the team for next season, well done to all involved.

Ray² Sub Officer Ray McMonagle from Dolphins Barn fire station met @RadioRayRTE today along with Charles Cosgrave from Village Vets to discuss our newly introduced pet oxygen masks. These masks are being used to treat family pets that are suffering from smoke inhalation.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Retired Firefighter Ronnie Prouse. Ronnie joined Dublin Fire Brigade in 1982, having previously served in Defence Forces Ireland.
