I'm not "unskeptically accepting misinformation," I'm "building a personal canon." Like when the LLM that runs Google Search said that the programming language "python" was created by "Pyrus Thonberg." I knew that was definitely wrong, but now I choose to believe it is correct.

When I say that you can’t just ignore AI until it goes away because it won’t just go away (like NFTs), my purpose is to motivate people to regulate it, not to just accept it as inevitable.

True story: I asked my daughter what letter is between D and F. She counted on her fingers and said 7. I shook my head. This is why we need more E-learning days.

If you make a gesture that is not intended to be a Nazi salute but is so close that people can’t tell the difference, you’re either a moron who doesn’t know how to avoid doing a Nazi salute, or you’re doing it on purpose because you know some people will see it as a Nazi salute, and you want that.

The last video I saw on TikTok before it abruptly stopped was someone explaining how creators can download all their videos. Unfortunately the process takes hours to days to complete.

TikTok right now is nothing but people saying goodbye and talking about how much the platform changed their lives, uplifting and depressing at the same time

“Rapid unscheduled disassembly” or RUD is based on a military term that goes back to the 1960s, and is not something Musk or SpaceX made up to cover their explosion. Musk does like to use it a lot though.

Sometimes you get a cool Transformer but you need to zhuzh it up with some 3rd party stickers

[Bruce Banner changing the gamma on his TV to the lowest setting]: This looks terrible

when i was a few minutes younger i thought it was 9:33 a.m. eastern time. and maybe at one point, that was the case. but part of growing older is finding enough humility to let go of some of the things you once held as true

When my dad texts and says he needs to talk to me about a 64 bit driver set, it’s like a 50/50 chance he wants to talk about screwdrivers or Linux.

Yeah Marvel Rivals is pretty fun

So funny thing about this. There are variations of this meme going back for many years, and I just happened to choose randomly the one that says “by Luigi,” which dates back to at least 2022, and I posted this before we knew his name.

Caspar: A child! A child shivers in the cold! Balthazar: Let us bring him silver and gold! Me: Or what about like a blanket?

I don’t post a lot about web dev, but I am a web dev and I’d like to follow more people who post about it. If you do, please say hi or like this post, and I’ll follow you. If you have a lot of web dev followers, would you mind reposting? Or if someone has a starter pack, that’d be awesome!

Because of a captioning error on a YouTube podcast, I saw the end of the movie Jack Frost described as "the snowman melts, so the sun learns what grief is" this morning and I thought that was the most deeply poetic high concept ever. Still thinking about it.

So weird to think that people were alive before I was

I am very excited for #SpaceEngineers2. You can expect me to stream this game when it's released. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lxe...

Oh god, please don’t bring ratio-ing back, people! It didn’t and doesn’t do shit. Block block block block block

Man, this week has sure tested the balance between my abhorrence of gun violence and my love of terrified rich people

YOU FOOLS. YOU LET MOOSE.

You get 20 extra characters on Bluesky which is great because it means, when you copy your old tweets into Bluesky you can always add “THUS SPOKE THE LICH!” to the end and it will still fit.

Ketchup does not exist. Mayonnaise does not exist. Tomatoes do not exist. The town you grew up in does not exist. Chocolate does not exist. Your son does not exist. The klingon empire does not exist. The universe is a spheroid region 705m in diameter. What are you putting on these?

Over at my father in law’s house doing the annual software updates. Still think this is the cleanest interior of a computer I’ve ever built.

yes, I'm religious--I believe in the Holy Trinity

My 9 year old son, randomly, to the tune of the Liberty Mutual song: Skibidi, Skibidi, Skiiibidi. Skibidi.

Holiday blues often appear because we're comparing our holiday today to an idyllic (or better) memory from holidays past. Grief rears its head instead of joy. I try to remember that my parents were dealing with their own grief when they created those joyful holiday memories for me. It's all love.

Spending a month on Bluesky has created a whole new model of a fight we need to be having right now. Not liberal vs. conservative or whatever, but respect vs manipulation. I am tired of being manipulated everywhere I go. That’s why I like it here, I feel like I’m in charge for once.

For those going home to visit family this weekend: • Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus • LG calls it TruMotion • Sony calls it Motionflow • Roku calls it Action Smoothing • Google TV calls it Motion Enhancement • Vizio calls it Smooth Motion Effect.

Well, my Twitter account is officially dormant. All the tweets are gone and it’s locked down. I left Twitter for Mastodon in January of 2023, and then came over to Bluesky in September of 2023. After hanging out in both, I made Bluesky my primary home, but still pop into Mastodon on occasion.

Yes! Every year. Time to get out the humidfleet.
