one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

Can a socialist society promote growth and innovation? A common argument that I hear for Capitalism is that Capitalism grows innovation by providing an incentive to create and spread good ideas. Do this work? I think it does, on a small business level. What do you think? Could Socialism do better?
