My favourite mug shows hairline cracks, I think. I've seen glass mugs persist with the like for years and many washes before giving out, but I'm preemptively shelving this thing for posterity. My second favourite mug, a branded one comped by work, becomes the go-to for tea and coffee.

My problem with starting the current project had been knowing I already attempted something like it 5 years ago and clearly didn't do it right. At this point though it seems every process for improving this work has been internalized, so I can look at the text and feel what it might need.

Latest edits are what I call busy work of formatting: chapter numbers in the proper field and names in first draft, then replacing every instance of "# # #" with a line break indicating change of scene and/or perspective.

The last time I did this, I was saving different editing cycle drafts in Word before I started using my formatting software. Then I realized I should edit in the software, where I can see a mock-up of the final page, and use its functionality to save backups of each draft in that doc format.
