I worked dispatch at an HVAC company in semi-rural NC one summer. We would absolutely bump people off the schedule when the elderly or disabled called because their AC was out. It was a standard part of the script to ask if they relied on the AC for their health.

Nothing more perfectly describes the current political climate in the US than democrats fawning over Gavin Newsom for his comebacks on X/Twitter less than 3 months after he platformed Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon on his podcast. This is the most fucked up rehabilitation tour I've seen.

If you are too young to remember the Iraq War, you'll hear "no one protested" and "no one knew they were lying." Millions of people knew they were lying and protested. The press not only did not want a record of mass dissent; they did not want a record of mass knowledge of lies.

The Doomsday Clock is just at midnight now, right?

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

I'm seeing a lot of blue state/red state discourse today. This is a reminder that Sarah is right: we're all purple like a bruise. The large protests in states run by the GOP prove that. They're not red, they're hurting.

How many more examples before people understand that transphobia is violence

The protests will stop when the kidnappings stop.

I see they're speed-running the 2020 playbook. Next up is shooting, gassing, and beating legal observers, I think. There were a lot of apologies about foreign press and legal observers in 2020. I'm not really expecting that this time, though. They're not worried about getting away with it this time.

This thread could easily have been pulled out of 2020 Twitter from Portland or Seattle. This shit doesn't change. Police actions are arbitrary, violent, and unconstitutional.

I mean, these days, the police aren't trained to do that either. They also view everyone else as a potential enemy.

Having designated crisis responders (DCRs) evaluate every drunk or high person who goes to the emergency room to decide whether they need to be locked up in a facility would undoubtedly keep people from seeking care when they're most in need of emergency services. seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Propaganda I’m not falling for: Women are to blame for men's loneliness Women hit a wall Trans women aren't women Medicaid fraud is rampant Vaccines are worse than the diseases they prevent Pew pews don't kill Gender affirming care is mutilation People with disabilities are scamming "the system"

I went to Seattle's Norwegian parade yesterday because my kid's school was in it. When a Norwegian flag is hanging at an angle, it looks like a different flag. One that makes a bunch of white people cheering in the street look a lot scarier. I did a double take when I saw it.

Hasan did nothing wrong but please, please do not talk to the Feds the way he did. Please. You might have to stay longer but they are going to try and use whatever you say against you. Stay silent, say you won't speak without an attorney etc. Shut the fuck up Friday applies to streamers!

This is exactly what happened during the pandemic. Prices went up because production capacity went down. When capacity COULD return, it didn't because they could get more profit off sky-high margins with lower volume...and people were willing to pay for it.

sure. fine. that's nice. that's not a scalable solution and it condemns a lot of people to death. we are a collective and a society and it is our right to have safe nonpoisonous food. and we should fight for it.

whatever it's fine publicola.com/2025/04/29/n...

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs. (“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

It is wild looking back at these 2016 articles and seeing watered-down versions of them now written by rich people who denigrated or even threatened me at the time. I spilled my blood and they peddle it as sangria.

Right here, this is it. We spend all this money to "revive downtown". I'm looking for a new home. I was considering moving downtown, but it's just not a good idea for someone with a young child. It's not homeless people that make it bad. It's the lack of anything for families.
