Tried out some new encounter rules from the free 2024 rules in #D&D. So, primarily, my fights felt a bit more balanced than using CR. Secondly, I do hope they add rules for "solo boss" monsters which I've been (re)homebrewing for about a year now with the help of buddies (stole their ideas).
