I've posted several times about the working paper, but the publication on "AER: Insights" is a good occasion to do it again: immigrants to the US have been less likely to be incarcerated for over 50 years **even without controlling for demographic characteristics.** www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=...

Texas A&M University Economics were well represented at the Southern Economic Association meetings in Washington DC. This is a great meeting for seeing folks who aren't necessarily on the fancy circuit, lots of wonderful scholars from many different schools.

Really excellent lecture by Kasey Buckles! The best thing I saw at SEA this year.

OK, chart time. Big picture: Job growth remains solid. The "acceleration" in November was entirely due to the return of striking workers, but even accounting for that, gains are steady, albeit down from earlier this year. #NumbersDay

🔥🔥🔥Are you pissed about Armin Falk heading IZA? If yes, consider reading/sharing/signing this letter. To be clear I didn’t organize this letter, and I’m so pleased that instead of me it was more senior economists (some male) who stepped up to help with this effort. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

I guess I don't get why we need to melt them down. Storage seems good enough, and they are historically interesting?

Interesting to see this confirmed for economics in a new paper in the EJ. Try to catch yourself -- gender stereotypes worm their way into letters. Use words like, creative, brilliant, not words like hard-working and a pleasure to work with, for your women candidates. Please.

And I'll just bet that women get punished when they don't perpetually appreciate others. Nice work by @johannarickne.bsky.social

On the other other site (Insta) Emily Oster is absolutely killing it as a real life fashion model 📉📈 #goals

This looks like a great study. I love it when new research confirms my priors.

So interesting!

Fascinating.

Very competitive -- none of my students or colleagues have ever made it in. But keep trying!

FANTASTIC news!! Let’s remember that among the amazing things she did is also the Women in Economics (UWE) challenge, which made us start thinking of ways to increase women in economics. It was 2015 & that’s how my work in this space started. Thank you & congrats Claudia Goldin!
