He's not up to the job. I'm really surprised by the failings of the LNP this election. But I can't say I'm disappointed. The more incompetent they are the more chance that people will not trust them.

The recent Sovereign & Security forum revealed that the US will not be able to supply the submarines. AUKUS needs to be scrapped. We need to think outside the box.
We need to disentangle ourselves from an unreliable trade partner. We need to review the ANZUS treaty in light of new security issues.

They often come into the life with high aspirations & often with a clear understanding of public service; but very quickly many are corrupted by the lifestyle & deals. There are some who never lose sight of why they are there.
I wouldn't classify those in today's executive branch as 'politicians'.

I completed one of their Have Your Say questionnaires. They were expecting views on the political parties. I used the opportunity to complain about the ABC, and expressed a hope that their funding would be cut until they smarten up.

Protest and supporting lawyers and politicians who are fighting this administration is probably the best action people can take right now.
Never give up hope. Things can change suddenly because of unexpected influences, but protest has to be our default position.

They may be off the hook within the administration; however, their incompetence has been noted by US allies. Trust has been eroded and steps are being taken. The USA may find it has no allies when they most need them.

I do understand your point of view.
I too have had some thoughts along the same lines.
I concluded that given extreme global pressures, it is worth 'thinking' about in the first instance. A 'proposal' for an arrangement with all the fine print, sunset clauses etc would come if the idea caught on.

I just hope that our leader can walk & chew gum at the same time.
I hope we have an effective task force working on the alliance issues right now. I don't want to find that we put our defence needs on the backburner & were then caught unprepared when things erupt.
