"Medicaid is filled with fraud, waste, and abuse."

Starting this Sunday, I will begin a series on my s*bstack about tax policy and how the left can improve its tax platform. What taxes should leftists support?

This is called “mistaking Twitter for real life” and progressives used to do it. Now conservatives are doing it ten times worse. Elon built them an echo chamber and they’ve fully immersed themselves in it.

Get in kid, we’re socializing wealth (at the local level) open.substack.com/pub/econoboi...

Perhaps an unhinged take, but I think Shawn Fain has significant potential in the Democratic Primary and the general, should he win. - Blue collar-coded midwesterner - No one could question his pro-worker stances - Has the populist messaging right for the moment

Republicans in congress have no shame or decency.

Me when I see more people want to eliminate DOGE than the IRS

I will bet a million dollars this doesn't happen

Political discourse is so toxic, I just printed a few dozen legal articles from 100 years ago to read.

Prepping for when budget talks start getting serious and economic discourse returns

Right-wingers' talk of 'efficiency' is either deeply incorrect or a mask econoboi.substack.com/p/the-anti-e...

This is the Republican wish list budget they submitted. How can anyone vote for these people?

If all you can think of to oppose the republicans is to work with them, you need to resign your position and allow someone else to lead.

This is based, but again: Abolish the nickel too and make the quarter worth 50 cents!!

DOGE won't balance the budget without tanking Trump's popularity with cruel cuts. The U.S. doesn't offer an expansive welfare state, but it especially doesn't tax much (thus our high deficit). The most feasible way for the U.S. to balance the budget is to raise taxes.

Every single Democrat in the Senate voted to confirm this man as the Secretary of State, and I won't get over that.

Whoever convinced Trump of a Sovereign Wealth Fund, god speed o7

Donald put this guy in the State Department

Current U.S. trade policy

Republican Congressman from Georgia (Rich McCormick) thinks children should be put to work instead of given free school meals.

At any point in time the Republican government and Trump could make inflation illegal. Curious they don't!

What’re we doing here?

Remember this when Republicans talk about getting rid of the income tax. They're not in it for you. They're in it for the highest income Americans.

Trump being so bad it results in an Regan-like AOC landslide presidential election in 2028 and she implements the New new deal.

My lil policy podcast hit 2k subs!

The issue is Trump didn't ask Elon's permission before making the announcement.

A decidedly more doomer post - econoboi.substack.com/p/political-...

The closer we get to trump’s inauguration, the more I think America is truly in for some dark times ahead. I have not given up hope, but my expectations for the next 4 years are quite low.

I’m not sure if this is a hot food take, but California-style burritos are the superior burrito form.

Creator of the 'Department of Government Efficiency' announces he will create a redundant federal agency on his first day in office.

"Women shouldn't serve in combat roles" is a position held entirely by unserious people.

Interesting tidbit in a book I’m reading. Turns out congestion pricing might be one of those policies that makes its own popularity by being so effective people want to keep it around.

Congestion pricing should be a thing in every single major American city. It raises revenue, breaks down attitudinal barriers around public transit, and incentivizes both people and the city to invest in quality public transit. (Oh, it also reduces congestion)

I have serious concerns about Pete Hegseth’s background, including his mismanagement of non-profit organizations, accusations of sexual assault and drinking problems, blatant disregard for the contributions of female service members, and support for war crimes and torture.

They're finally getting it guys!

No tax on tips is a great example of the phony populism of the right. If you think lower-income people should pay less tax, you can always lower tax rates on lower-income people. No tax on tips creates distortions, and it's necessarily less progressive/populist than alternatives.

This should be a basic part of our education system. It's that important.

All he did was implement martial law for a day guys. C'mon, this is why the left always loses. Are we just going to prosecute EVERYONE who engages in a coup every now and then?
