Sure, aluminum tariffs will be bad for America, but at least they'll be good for the aluminum industry, right? Right?!? seekingalpha.com/news/4413299...

Pro: Musk is good at the "vision thing" and getting people excited about it. Con: Musk overpromises/underdelivers. He's not interested in details or steady improvement. He disregards process. He likes being loved by 10-20% and hated by most. (These last two matter more when it's not his company).

If Mitch Daniels was running DOGE, they'd have already began implementing GAO recs to fix the $191 billion in payment errors, consolidating duplicative programs, and auditing 1000s of programs for efficiencies - legally, competently, and with minimal disruption. That's real savings.

The stock market had an ugly week. The S&P 500 hit a record Wed., but was down to its 50-day by Friday. The Nasdaq and Dow are clearly below their 50-day lines, while the Russell 2000 closed below its 200-day for the first time since late 2023. 1/ www.investors.com/market-trend...

It's strange to hear an intellectual case for steel tariffs - as opposed to a populist stump speech - because it's so obviously wrong, as @scottlincicome.bsky.social makes clear.

It's an Eminem market - calm on the surface - but nervous underneath. The major indexes dipped Thu., off lows with the S&P 500 right at highs. But growth sold off again, esp. high P-E stocks. Investors should be cautious. MercadoLibre surged late. Booking rose. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures fall slightly after the major indexes close with slim gains and a fresh high for the S&P 500. But Axon Enterprise staged an ugly expectations breaker, while Palantir and Cava were big losers too. Carvana sold off late as well. www.investors.com/market-trend...

The S&P 500 hit a record high thanks to a last-minute rally Tuesday. Tech titans had a weak day, but Nasdaq 100 equal weight ETF QQEW surged to a fresh high. Axon broke out. Futures edged higher late, but Arista Networks and Shift4 sold off on earnings. www.investors.com/market-trend...

The stock market rebounded from midweek lows, with the major indexes near record highs. But they haven't cleared a choppy range yet. Here's what to do. AI giants Amazon and Broadcom are setting up while Axon, with its own AI efforts, is already actionable. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures rose slightly with Coinbase, Twilio, Airbnb and Roku key earnings movers. Earlier, stocks rallied with the S&P 500 almost at highs and key growth funds doing so. Why? The PPI inflation report and new Trump tariffs weren't as scary as the headline. www.investors.com/market-trend...

The major indexes had a narrowly mixed session, still trading within Friday's range. It's a choppy market, though the range seems to be tightening somewhat. The CPI inflation report could be a catalyst - or not. 1/ www.investors.com/market-trend...

Tesla continues to plunge while #BYD holds in a buy range after its huge driver-assist push. www.investors.com/news/tesla-v...

Fluence Energy is similar to Tesla Energy, with both packaging CATL batteries for energy storage. Fluence just reported a wider-than-expected Q1 loss. Revenue plunged 49% - it was supposed to be down <1%! The company slashed full-year guidance too. FLNC down 36% AH.

www.investors.com/news/tesla-v... Even I didn't have this on my bingo card. An EV giant broke out on self-driving hopes last week - and it wasn't Tesla. BYD skyrocketed ahead of Monday's smart-car event, where it's expected to roll out an advanced driver-assist system to cheap EVs.

The stock market remains be choppy. The major indexes aren't far from record highs but the Nasdaq is below its 50-day line. Weekly charts can help put bullish/bearish daily moves in perspective. There are leaders flashing buy signals, but big losers too. 1/2 www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures dip as Amazon falls, overshadowed big earnings winners Fortinet, Doximity, Cloudflare and Affirm. The major indexes were mixed Thu., all near highs but still rangebound. Tesla fell to 2025 lows, but closed well. Start of a bullish shakeout? Well, maybe... www.investors.com/market-trend...

Stocks rose Wed., shrugging off Google's sell-off, partly because Google's woes from heavy capex is great for AI chipmakers such as Nvidia, Broadcom, Taiwan Semi and Arm. But Arm skidded late on meh guidance. Separately, Tesla hit a two-month closing low. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Trump pumps meme coin, but $TRUMP dump continues. www.investors.com/news/trump-p...

The stock market had a volatile week, with AI hardware plays crashing Mon on DeepSeek fears and Trump tariff news Fri. In btw? Massive earnings and a Fed meeting. The Dow rose 0.3% as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell solidly. The Russell 2000 hit 50-day resistance. 1/ www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures rise as Apple pops on earnings, signaling an early entry. Atlassian and Deckers were big movers, in opposite directions. Stocks rose Thursday, despite Trump tariff threats. Tesla topped a key level on robotaxi hopes. Microsoft and ServiceNow tumbled. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures are now mixed. Tesla, Meta, Microsoft, ServiceNow and IBM are among slew of notable reports. Tesla had a grim *earnings report* but Elon Musk is promising June robotaxi rides in Austin. The overall market is doing OK, but news crush adds uncertainty. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures loom with Tesla, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, ServiceNow and dozens of other top earnings reports this week, along with the latest Fed meeting. Nvidia and AI stocks will be in focus from earnings, Stargate - and fears of a big DeepSeek threat. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures rose modestly late as Trump announced a $100 bil-$500 bil "Stargate" AI infrastructure venture by Oracle, OpenAI and SoftBank. ORCL leapt late. NVDA, MSFT, ANET, PLTR also rose. Netflix surged on earnings. Trump also threatened new China tariffs Feb. 1. 1/2 www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures turn slightly lower after Trump said he's thinking about imposing 25% tariff hikes on Canada, Mexico on Feb. 1. President signing a bunch of executive orders on day 1, incl. hiring/regulatory freeze and TikTok reprieve. www.investors.com/market-trend...

The stock market staged a bullish rally last week heading into Trump's inauguration. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 reclaimed their 50-day lines while the Dow closed just below that level. The Russell 2000 and S&P 500 equal-weight ETF RSP rebounded from their 200-day. 1/ www.investors.com/market-trend...

Donald Trump launches $TRUMP meme coin just before his inauguration. It's soaring in value, and guess who controls 80%? www.investors.com/news/donald-...

The major indexes fell Thu., with the S&P 500 hitting resistance at the 50-day line and the Nasdaq back below that key level. Blame Apple, Tesla & Nvidia. But the equal-weight S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 ETFs (RSP & QQEW) rose while more leaders flashed buy signals. www.investors.com/market-trend...

Futures mixed with UnitedHealth weighing on the Dow Jones while Nvidia chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor lifted techs. Bank of America continued strong bank results after Wednesday's big market rally. Can the S&P 500 retake the 50-day line, joining the Nasdaq? www.investors.com/market-trend...

The major indexes closed mixed again, all below their 50-day lines. Some leaders flashed buy signals. But buying now means you're betting the market will quickly rev up. The CPI inflation report looms Wed., with JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs leading bank earnings. www.investors.com/market-trend...
