Missing #NoirAlley so here is a photo of Alicia Malone and @eddiemuller.bsky.social from #NoirCity last weekend discussing #FilmNoir and introducing The Narrow Margin... #TCMParty

I have done this. NOIR CITY 16 was all chronological A/B double features from 1941 to 1953; NOIR CITY 17 was the same template from 1952 to 1960, ending with a D/B of Breathless and Psycho, symbolically the end of the original noir era.

The #NoirCity festival is off to a rip roaring start with a special appearance by Noir Kitty Tizzy who is the same age as my daughter (20)! I can’t thank @eddiemuller.bsky.social and the #FilmNoirFoundation for such a luscious treat for these challenging times. ❤️ #NoirAlley #TCMParty

I've seen "Out of the Past" (1947) at least 3 times, but last night, at the #NoirCity festival, was the first time I'd seen it on the big screen (in 35mm!). It's startling to realize, as host @eddiemuller.bsky.social noted, how young the stars were: Mitchum was 29, Douglas 26, Greer just 22.

DEADLINE AT DAWN needs to play on a double bill with AFTER HOURS. #NoirAlley #TCMParty

I’ll definitely be there. You’ll have lots of people to talk to, being a man who likes to talk to a man who likes to talk. #NoirCity

Margaret McGregor, official NOIR CITY ambassador.

What am I not allowed to talk about? The accountants thought killing the set would save money. That’s it.

Nancy Drew … KILLER. #noiralley #TCMParty

Sometimes it is entirely inadequate to describe a movie as “good” or “bad.” There are those special ones that are “insane.” #noiralley #TCMParty

Thank you for noticing. Camera and lighting by Alden Robinson. She does a great job. #noiralley #TCMParty

Look closely at the left side of Belita’s face and you can sometimes see the big scar. Face cut open in a skating accident when she was a teenager. Just one of many physical hardships she overcame. #noiralley #TCMParty

I have a terrific recording Belita made later in her life, interviewing herself about her life and career. She had a wicked sense of humor and a lovely British accent. Sounded just like Noel Coward. #noiralley #TCMParty

Ha! You’re right, but then I couldn’t have made that crack about “frozen water.” Kelly liked Belita. He gave her a great non-skating number in INVITATION TO THE DANCE, which was her last film appearance. #noiralley #TCMParty

The only two on this list I could see as titles of Chandler novels are “All Guns are Loaded” and “(The) Law is Where You Buy It.” The best title is “The Black-Eyed Blonde” but I thought Banville’s stab at Chandler, which used that title, was awful. I preferred Denise Mina’s “The Second Murderer.”

Doubtful. Although someone has posted all of my Noir Alley wraparounds on YouTube. You can watch them for free (movies not included).

Come to the festival and renew your vows. I’m an ordained minister in the Church of Noir.

Not if the remake makes Barney the main character. It works better with Sheila as the protagonist. It would of course be intriguing to see William as written in the book. Critics would claim trendy “wokeness,” even tho it was written in 1942.

Check the website www.noircity.com We do Oakland, Seattle, Hollywood, Boston, Portland, Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, and Philly (Phoenixville).
