A reminder from 7 years ago of Facebook’s negligence regarding the dissemination of lies by fake accounts, mistrust, the rise of fascism and the crumbling of democracy. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

The entire business model of American R1 universities is not viable without restoration of federal funding, & every individual institution pretending it can solve this problem alone is also not viable. University presidents need to be speaking out, collectively & loudly about this, in DC, right now.

Why is anyone who doesn’t like Nazis still using X?

That sound you hear is twelve different lawyers updating their pleadings.

This made me laugh. So rich.

Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

Most of the cases are among school-aged children; at least thirteen patients have been hospitalized.

Vance thinks he has already outwitted us. He is a pompous blowhard. Trump doesn’t think at all.

Watch out, EU. We don’t want you to wind up like US.

Echo, echo, echo

Last night, we broke the news that the top US election security watchdog has frozen all of its election security work and is reviewing everything it has done to help state and local officials secure their elections for the past eight years. https://wrd.cm/3QkfGh3

Why is the top hit when I search up “rally” about the stock market? Who is mobilizing people against this insane Neoreactionary coup? A picnic and primal scream in the Mall sound good, with a march to the White House in between.

I wonder how that happened?

If anyone could drum up votes to get his twisted way back in the day, it was Mitch McConnell. Now look at him, casting symbolic "no" votes on atrocious cabinet picks. Funny how villains wind up so all alone.

Unquestionably not-good news

AFGE holding the line today in DC.

The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law." Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so. www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

In The Affluent Society John Kenneth Galbraith names the two driving ideas in American life: social Darwinism and the Wild West. Today, that looks like white supremacy and lawlessness. Charming combo or tired trope?

The Justice Department on Monday told federal prosecutors in Manhattan to drop the corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams of New York.

Corruption is okay, but insinuated fraud, waste, and abuse is not. Noted.
