I have a little book of science facts so I want to share my favourite find of the day. Lemons are not naturally occurring fruit; they are a mix of two different species. The lemon is a hybrid of a citron and bitter orange. It evolved over centuries of plant breeding.

A sparrow was holding a cherry blossom in its mouth. The kokedamachan was swaying on the scattered petals. It looked like a seesaw. #Illustration #takaoline #commentwelcome

I was once asked by one of the 'cool' kids at secondary school what my favourite Genesis album was. My panicked reply was "...Of the Daleks." 40 years on, I stand by that answer. #DoctorWho

This will always make me smile 😄

Others topple and yield, but in these timeless halls even the strongest gale will be broken. Join us tomorrow at 15:00 CET for the first look at everything coming up in Crusader Kings III: Chapter IV ► pdxint.at/Chapter4

If your day has been hard, if you’re feeling anxious or angry or lost, allow yourself to pause for a moment and come back to your breathing. The present moment is all we truly have. When we become so tied up in our thoughts, we miss our appointment with life. Rest well, my friends. 😊 #calm #peace

We don’t do it for Ofsted—but we are proud. For the last four years, HLP has been dedicated to ensuring our young people get the outstanding education they deserve. Ofsted’s report reflects this and reinforces our belief that alternative provision should never mean inferior provision. #ThisIsAP

Tell us about cuts to your area’s SEND provision or EHCPs. Answer as best fits your experience and knowledge. This form is for parents, practitioners, officials and anyone else with relevant information. bit.ly/SNJ-cuts

I just returned from my trip to ship drawings & enjoyed my neighbour’s gardens. Daffs are everywhere, like little glowing suns. There’s something so uplifting about colour, & that’s why I love using vibrant tones in my drawings, as you can see in this thread!

If you all could take 30 seconds to add your name to this open letter opposing the proposed cuts in disability benefits, that would be great... Cuts kill. As a reminder, unless we happen to drop dead, we ALL will be disabled at some point in our life. www.scope.org.uk/campaigns/th...

I used Pokémon during my 1:1 maths lesson. A student in a secondary resourced provision loves the fictional world. The initial reluctance to engage stopped after we subtracted two and three digit ‘hit points’ in a ‘Pokémon battle.’ It was a bizarre situation but it’s also a positive from today.

Book talk is an essential part of building a classroom reading culture but can be quite tricky to get up and running. Our Reading Champions came up with a list of about sixty questions that can help get the conversations started. Hopefully they're useful. padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...

I like the “small and precise” way of painting. It is because I feel as if I am looking at a wide and vast world through a small lens like a magnifying glass. I wonder if you can understand this nuance. #Illustration #commentwelcome

A real favourite. @karlduke8.bsky.social has done amazing work with this “The Visitor” by #AntjeDamm is a beautiful book about the power of friendship. It’s beautifully understated and gently life-affirming. The diorama art and the use of colour is stunning. Quiet joy. #PicturebookPage

There was a lot of #AcademicFreedom, good scholarship, and independent thought in German universities before Hitler. After Hitler had risen to power, many academics fled the country. Some resisted the Nazi regime and were persecuted. Most adapted to a new situation. Here are some examples. 1/n

A solid 10/10 night in for a type one diabetic. Sad? Arguably. It’s a NEW sugar free drink though and I don’t have to inject any insulin!

I was in a KS2 SEMH unit today. PSHE is embedded in the curriculum so I was able to observe and use cross-curricular links between subjects. This included collaborative tasks in history, the exploration of cultural diversity for RE and expression/cathartic release in art. In short, a good day😊

The issue isn’t just poverty. It’s lack of purpose; our failure to engage & inspire huge numbers of children & young people destroys their life choices. And it’s intergenerational. What we offer children in terms of education & wider opportunity today matters for us all tomorrow.

For World Book Day, here is a clay tablet from ancient Uruk. It’s over 5,000 years old and preserves some of the earliest examples of writing. The signs represent numbers and various products tallied up for a festival of the evening star, the goddess Inana (associated with Venus) #WorldBookDay

Happy World Book Day! And WELL DONE to all the parents for sorting out costumes for World Book Day 💜 #booksky

Happy World Book day, Bluesky!

Listen to your children read. Read to your children. Read alongside your children. Take them to libraries. Talk about what reading means to you & what it can unlock. Tell them it doesn’t matter if it’s comics, magazines or books as long as they’re engaged with the written word. #WorldBookDay

A big shift which likely reflects a real & growing concern over challenging behaviour by pupils - in line with other recent findings - rather than teachers being happy with their workload.

I accepted a job in a tough mainstream school on Monday. My temporary supply contract was three days and today was a year 5 class. Being in a PRU means challenging behaviour sometimes, expletives and violence included. That behaviour in a class of 30 is different though.

Really interesting episode of Gone Medieval Podcast with @danelawdawn.bsky.social & @juliandrichards.bsky.social on the Viking Great Army. (and a Woodstown mention too!) 🙌 open.spotify.com/episode/2dK7...

A small win. My bg plummeted after the correction dose so I ate leftover fried rice. I need to brush my teeth but the hypo risk isn’t worth it right now. Balls to the wall twenty something nonsense. Crazy. 🙄👏

Trauma doesn’t just affect emotions—it rewires the nervous system. • The brain sees threat everywhere • The body stays on alert • Relationships feel unsafe Healing starts with felt safety.

Not only pro-Ukraine protesters but a number of banners and flags in support of LGBTQ+ rights too. Well done Vermont!

I have to apologise for not eating much cheese recently. I feel like I’ve let you all down

I missed this schoolsweek.co.uk/send-pupils-... but was looking up as O was struggling with the idea of an art exam & hearing other people for many hours! Thought it may be of interest #KidsMH

BREAKING: 'You have full backing across the United Kingdom' Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer tells Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 'We stand with you and Ukraine for as long as it may take' 👏

Naps are great until I wake up and the disorientation hits. Is it Saturday? Am I real? I woke up to 15.3 mmol/L and my blood glucose spiked in my sleep. The vivid dream was great though.

What a powerful thought and what a powerful watch of expressing it! Lemn Sissay
