The final Saab 96 Jubilee models in late 1979 ended a 20-year run. The car used Ford’s V4 from 1967, double the capacity of the original two-stroke engine. The freewheel was essential for the earlier engine to reduce RPMs and lower exhaust gas temps while maintaining speed, but it carried to the V4.
