The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

This is evil. Pure evil.

seems reasonable

Whenever you hear "waste, fraud, and abuse" ask for reciepts. In the unlikely event they send them, look at them. They are your medicaid, social security, and small business loans.

While Elon Musk’s government efficiency effort aims to save billions, Missouri’s plan could save $6.6 million.

This is the way.

After DOGE took over USAID, agency emails started automatically including a “sensitive but unclassified” warning. This indiscriminate application will create an untold number of needless pseudo-secrets and make it harder to get information released through FOIA.

House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt 🧵on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT

My only criticism of George Orwell’s 1984 is that it wasn’t titled 2025.

The evidence keeps mounting.

Not great: “They are greatly diminishing CDC and the country's ability to respond to emerging infectious threats." Let’s all hope that bird flu doesn’t get any worse 🤞🏽 www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Word of the Day is ‘ingordigiousness’ (18th century): extreme greed at the expense of principles.

We wrote about the 21 USDS staffers who are resigning, and it appears this is the response from the Trump admin. It begs the questions: If these workers were fully remote, were they not just expressing themselves in their own homes? What happened to the right to free expression?

The new DOGE administrator, who the White House only named after media pressure, told associates she did not know she would be named publicly to the position. She’s currently scheduled to be on vacation in Mexico. Meet Amy Gleason. We’ve been tracking her for a bit. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02...

I heart Tina Smith.

Complete batshit lunacy on the president's Truth Social account. Yes, he really posted this.

You all should read this book to understand the diverse nexus of right wing players and funders that are actively committed to undoing our democracy for sake of power, money and ideology.

This hits hard… “Then she was fired by a Fox News weekend host.” You know what else hits hard? The fact that voters thought it was a good idea to hire a reality show host/bankrupt businessman as President of the United States.

There are a total of 124 measles cases in Texas. On Friday, 90 cases were reported. Now, it's 34 cases more just over the weekend. Out of the 124 cases, 18 patients are hospitalized.

Republicans’ attacks on staffing ratio requirements for long-term care ignore exactly WHY these requirements were put into place. Just ask anyone with a family member in long-term care.

⚡️🇺🇸 The US will continue supplying weapons to Ukraine until 2026 thanks to a decision by Biden, per The Wall Street Journal. Major supplies ordered by his administration will last until the end of next year. www.wsj.com/world/europe...

The date has been changed from March 15 to March 14. Please update your calendars

❗️Trump: "$350B, lots of military equipment, and the right to keep fighting," Trump responded to a journalist asking what Ukraine will get from the mineral deal. He is likely referring to what he thinks the US has already provided, claiming its $350 billion.

Trump owns this. Musk owns this. Stop burning the FAA to the ground, you ketamine-sodden nazis.

The Trump administration has fired 400 FAA workers in the past week. www.axios.com/local/chicag...

The FAA has signed a contract to use SpaceX’s Starlink for air traffic management. The contract size is undisclosed. This comes as Musk, who leads SpaceX, advocates for federal spending cuts, including at the FAA. SpaceX relies heavily on government contracts, primarily from NASA. (CNN)

Anyone want to bet that no one looks at the email responses that Musk asked for ? It requires too much manpower and organization. Even w/AI He will hold them in the event he has an interaction with someone. If so, he can look up their response or lack of, and use it as cause for action.

Anyone particularly good at jumping paywalls? Something I can’t read that 12ft.io can’t clean

Texas becomes the latest State to propose a mask ban. These are ugly laws. They’re discriminatory & push disabled people further out of society. They increase the likelihood of police harassment. They paint maskers as “bad”. There’s an excellent document with scripts for how to call & fight back!
