It deeply bums me out that there is no history teacher feed. There's feeds for every other teaching subject, but not history. Is it because so many history teachers are just football coaches who can use Powerpoint?

One conspiracy theory I believe in is that the same assholes who successfully sold the Right on hatred and fear have also successfully sold the Left on despair. Don't let the motherfuckers win before they get started.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but liking books by a shitty person doesn't make you shitty. Caring more about what happens to those books than what happens to people who are hurt makes you shitty.

You can't save the whole world, but you sure as fuck can save the world around you.

Oh man, the bots have started to follow me. I'm so excited for them to get all my content. So much content here, guys. I'm basically an influencer at this point. GIVE ME VALIDATION YOU FUCKING ROBOTS.

The algorithm really wants me to quit my job and learn how to code, and let me tell you…nothing has ever sounded less appealing.

Hangman did nothing wrong 🤼‍♀️

My New Year’s Resolution is to make myself everybody’s problem.

The problems with laughing about leopards eating the faces of people who voted for the leopards eating people's faces party is that by the time they get to the people who voted for them, they've probably already torn through everybody else.

i understand the jealous gripe of “kids these days don’t understand what we went through” but have you considered that it’s actually a good thing for younger generations to not face the same adversity you did

Hey am I supposed to make my bio a brief summary of everything I believe in? I don’t mean that in a snarky way, I just noticed it was a thing here.

For no reason at all, I would like to point out that the enforcement of laws is reliant on people allowing them to be enforced.

Reminder Superman is not a power fantasy, he's an altruism fantasy. The idea of someone with godlike powers using them solely for good (with an antagonist who is a billionaire, who by definition do the opposite) was dreamt up by Jewish kids in the 30s and its just as if not more relevant now.

AND ANOTHER FUCKING THING...I hate that everything on the internet is designed to make people angry under the guise of being informative. Motherfucker, I am always angry. I live in this world, I do not need you consistently pointing that fact out to me.

This post brought to your by our head of security recommending that we all start carrying pepper spray at all times.

What's up? Everybody else's workplace scrambling to find new performative security measures today or is it just us at schools?

For the first time in my career, I turned down an invitation to something. This has been a ridiculously awesome year in terms of the opportunities afforded to me (I'm spending a week in Europe! I'm waiting to hear back from two prestigious fellowships!) and let me tell you...

I am going to go watch a robot that my child programmed undertake a series of tasks on a make-believe planet, then I'm going to go learn how it works in the booth my other child built. Being a parent is pretty cool.

I am just throwing this out there, but I think it's fucking hilarious and sad how much dude culture is centered on never getting old. Gotta lose weight, gotta bulk, gotta have more hair, gotta...whatever. Does anyone else not remember how fucking exhausting being young was?

Real question - who do I follow to make my timeline something other than endless political shit that I’m already aware of?

I can’t get into specifics because they would make me too identifiable, but I realized that I have a laundry list of rules at work that have been created just because of me

Man, one of the amazing things about Bluesky is watching something happens and then watching various shades of leftists just devour one another in an attempt to prove their own righteousness.

I keep thinking about something I miss from the Old Internet - weird fandom websites that people made just for the hell of it, with no goal of making money. I miss writing for places like that so damn much.

I love teaching history because when I'm annoyed, I can answer the vast majority of "why" questions in American history with "capitalism" or "bigotry". Always gets a great response, let me tell you.

Hey so I'm from Tennessee and I'm sorry. We keep trying, but the gerrymandering here fucking sucks. We'll keep trying but, you know, again, sorry.

This is honestly a pretty neat platform. That's all. I like it.

Wicked was an absolutely amazing film that felt like it earned its place as an adaptation.

It's that day again, the day when I say "fuck it" and just have my students watch Les Mis.

I had the realization that I have stumbled into a life where a not-insignificant number of my friends are like...a small degree of famous. Not "mobbed in the grocery store famous", but "you know them if you know this thing" famous. This leads me to believe that I am the most boring person I know.

I'm fucking over the moon hearing how upset my boys were by what was said in front of them. I am ever more in love with my wife who is not willing to meekly submit to loud assholes. I feel like an incredible burden has been lifted from our shoulders.

Now? No more community, not that I wasn't always an outspoken outsider there. We're ghosts. We don't exist, and I'm weirdly okay with that. I'm okay knowing that my spiritual health doesn't depend on people who watch Fox News. I'm okay knowing that my daughter will never be told she is less than.

Last week, my kids were subjected to a sermon that not only directly told them that Democrats were the party of Satan, but that told them that everything from same-sex relationships to women working were things that God hates. That was the end of the fucking road for me. We left.

Okay, so...I left my church over the election. Religion is an incredibly important part of my life and who I am. I know that's not always a thing people like to hear, and I'm okay with that. I am one of those idiots who read "love your neighbor as yourself" and thought it applied to everyone.

You know what the joy of the relative anonymity of this shit is right here? It's the fact that I can say what I am about to say and have shit rain on one in my real life.

Today I'm going to continue to teach my students kindness, empathy, and an unbridled rage for injustice. We keep moving forward, no matter what.

Always 💖 Don't make me tap the sign
