I can't get enough of the Great Moose Migration livestream from northern Sweden www.svtplay.se/video/KqP1zJ...

Hickenlooper encouraged largely powerless people to mount "stronger opposition" to Trump policies while he himself, a US Senator, repeatedly votes to confirm Trump's nominees

There’s something about the name Bruenig that elicits the most unhinged, batshit reactions

Obviously Bluesky is its own kind of bubble, but I have yet to see a single positive reaction to this bit of news on here

@davidsirota.com I enjoyed and appreciated the RS article, and mostly share your perspective. Which is why it's hard for me to understand why one of CO's most pro-corporate, pro-monopoly bills I've seen has the name Sirota as a co-sponsor

The Sopranos is probably the Rosetta Stone of modern American reaction: it consists of people who bemoan the loss of an imagined past they mainly got from movies, claim victimization based on identity but hate when others do it, and view the people who build the society they prey on as suckers.

Something is fundamentally wrong with America when millions of dollars can’t buy you a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat, the respect of your children, the silence of your baby mammas, or a functional penis implant.

There's an unwritten sequel to Chris's book, Twilight of the Elites, about how "meritocracy" resulted in all of our elite institutions being led and staffed by highly credentialed people with no integrity

A Harper's Letter for people who oppose masked goons snatching people off the street for writing an op-ed

Were there any other speakers at the AOC/Bernie rally in Denver? I haven’t seen this in the reporting I’ve read

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back. This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008. Also bigger than the 2024 DNC. And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado. 11,000 people showed up. Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

Adam’s right but I’d put this differently. American elite institutions select for a certain kind of person, especially at the leadership level. And that selection is mostly based on certain academic and professional credentials and not character, integrity, principles, etc.

Amazing how many intelligent people read the story of the emperor's new clothes and think that the moral is that you shouldn't point out that the emperor is naked before anyone else does

Friday Cat Blogging in memory of Kevin Drum. I don’t have cats of my own but these are my sister’s lil guys, Henry and Ned, back in 2021

Did @alaskapublic.org really cancel the Iditapod podcast? What a bummer!

What is decidedly both cool and hip is working at your state’s Public Utilities Commission

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

Very much like the Iraq War, somehow "I thought Elon Musk was a genius until a couple years ago" is now considered the more respectable and serious opinion than "I knew he was a fraud for a decade and was never fooled by him."

You love to see it
