SOMEONE NOTICED blog.playstation.com/2024/12/02/p...

One day late, but happy one year anniversary to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora! I still think it is a game full of incredible tech and very well executed from a gameplay perspective, even if it feels disjointed at parts. But above all that, it was a great project to be part of.

With games underselling systematically, it was a matter of time till Ubisoft started closing studios and laying off devs. That is the easy thing for execs to do: slash numbers for shareholders' eyes and continue ignoring why all games, independent of quality, keep being badly received by gamers.

🥲

This has the same vibe as when Fucked Up made people destroy a bathroom at the MTV VMAs and were banned from ever playing there again. I love it.

People keep asking if I miss Sweden yet, but I'm too busy soaking up the sun in a t-shirt and getting sunburned in late November to even think about it.

Pleased to see Star Wars Outlaws nominated on the Innovation on Accessibility at The Game Awards. I directly contributed and fought to port a lot of the great work that had already been done for Avatar and was given the space to further improve on it.

Listening to Hard Off's theme on a loop is probably a sign that I am, yet again, missing Japan.

Friday I had the pleasure to take the stage at DevGAMM Lisbon to discuss best practices on how to talk with programmers to produce better games. Thank you for having me and to everyone who attended!

Ended up unexpectedly showcasing Employee 925 at XL Games today. Positive reception but still some work to get it to the state I want it to be. Thank you Game Dev Lisbon for the opportunity! #gamedev

This one really hurts. Everything I ever played from Tequila Works was stellar and the diversity in their portfolio really speaks for the quality of their talent. I will sorely miss them.

your friend at month 1 of their newest game dev role: this studio is so chill and everyone is so nice. no drama here!!! your friend at month 47: so yes it turns out the team did actually kill and eat the former vfx director, as i suspected. but that was AFTER the interns all died in The Incident

I have a recurring 1h commute I am trying to fill with videogames I can play on the PS Vita. That means anything Vita or PSP is a valid contender. So far I played: flow Deadbolt Patapon Any other suggestions for games with short play sessions?

I no longer live in Malmö and moved back to my hometown of Lisbon. It was an incredible time in my life and I'll surely visit often as there's just too many people I like and admire there. If you're ever in Lisbon, give me a call!

Happy 25th birthday to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater! This game made me: - start skating - get into punk and hardcore, even being vocals for a band called Officer Dick - sport a mohawk haircut at some point It really helped forge my core identity over the years.

Showcased Employee 925 for the first time! Less of a polarised experience than I expected, with varying degrees of positive appreciation. Someone said it was "poetry" which makes it all worth it.

It's beautiful weather outside and there's a big festival going on in Malmö... so of course I spent most of the day home around my existential corporate horror short game. On the bright side, it's ready-ish for next Friday's showcase at Game Habitat!

@ozone.birb.house can I get the Game Dev label please? Thanks!

Trying a re-intro here: My name is João, Portuguese living in Sweden and I work mainly as a Gameplay Programmer. Shipper Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws in the last year, which is a bit crazy. I love making smaller games on my own and I miss A MAZE. #GameDev

I realised I never posted it here, but I actually ended up releasing this! Very short, proof-of-concept state, still fun imho Play it here: jantunes.itch.io/torn-gb

Cooking a Gameboy demake of an old project 👁️

Just found this magazine in a book store in Poland featuring the two Massive Entertainment projects! It's also a very good excuse to practice my Polish 🇵🇱

In a year full of game releases, Chants of Sennaar from rundisc deserves your attention. A beautifully crafted system that pushes you for exploration (with much appreciated little hand-holding), capturing the feeling of being a foreigner. One of the best games of last year.

Čechův most I really like how this Gameboy Camera picture turned out!

Finally got around to playing it and Cocoon is my Game Of The Year so far (and will probably not lose that spot). Incredible work from Geometric Interactive 👏

good.

I just released a very very short experience I made for Ubisoft's internal Neurodiversity Game Jam back in May. You can check it out here: jantunes.itch.io/ioly

Is there anyone else here interested in Gameboy Camera photography? Here's my latest one

New to Bluesky, trying to land somewhere that is not X. I am currently working on this, btw.
