A pair of Great Tits! 🪶

Not strep, but not just allergies. Actually an ear infection! Italy’s health care system continues to impress me. Today is a holiday (the city’s patron saint’s feast day), so only one doctor was working at the clinic, but the wait was still only 20 minutes. Office visit was free, meds 10€

The Shitty Camera That Could (Nikon D50) wormed its way into my heart and vacation luggage. I still brought my other DSLR, though (better for birding) My parents, who just use their iPhones’ cameras nowadays because their DSLR is “too heavy” are giving my camera bag some serious side-eye.

The balcony of shame at AirBnB # 2 (Note: all of these were in the SAME ROOM) I genuinely don’t know if I have strep throat or severe allergies/postnasal drip

Better pics to come later, but: WILD FLAMINGOS!

I am SO ALLERGIC to the stupid scent diffuser in this AirBnB. I moved it to the balcony over 24 hours ago but can still smell it everywhere. It makes the insides of my eardrums itch.

I’m sure this is safe. 😬

That last part x 100

I love to see a continental breakfast that goes beyond the usual breakfast pastries and commits to having straight-up desserts

Pro tip from airport staff: when the check-your-bag kiosk prints the tag for your luggage, it also has a couple of small backup stickers with the same bar code. To make sure your bag doesn’t get lost, stick them where they can’t fall off by accident. He said these are the most reliable places.

idk who needs to see this rn but it might be you

The gate for my next flight has changed FOUR TIMES in two hours. As soon as I get to each gate they announce that it’s changed again. I’m so tired.

Airports talk a big game about not letting your luggage out of your sight, but they don’t made the bathroom stalls any to facilitate that.

Should I bring a third camera, or is that excessive? I already feel like I’m going to hold up the TSA line with a parade of plastic tubs of larger-than-a-phone electronics and oversized prescription liquids. Is it too obnoxious to add a film camera to the mix?

Every time I’m getting ready to travel I impulse buy sort of aspirational stuff. Like I’m hoping I’ll turn into a better person while away from my real life. Will I magically become someone who keeps my electronics and chargers in tidy little pouches instead of loose in my backpack? Stay tuned.

Normally I don’t feel strongly about what airports I make connections at. I’m mostly worried about whether or not I’ll have enough time (45 minutes at Heathrow? lol, no) Should have thought harder, though—since I’ll have to re-clear security in Europe, I can’t have carry-on knitting. ☹️

I think they just forgot to come back to my call after they finished talking to my insurance. The status of the prescription got updated on the website, though, so it looks like the actual problem has been addressed (knock on wood).

My pharmacy RAN OUT OF HOLD MUSIC, the line just went totally silent after a few minutes. This is almost worse than music--I can't stop looking at my phone to make sure I didn't accidentally hang up the call.
