QMUL UCU is doing the kind of work we need UCU to do nationally to highlight the catastrophic destruction of higher education across the regions & nations. Thousands of jobs & so much talent and expertise lost. Shame on this Govt for sitting by & letting it happen qmucu.org/qmul-transfo...

📝 Final week to apply to this funded PhD studentship: “What is driving the rapid rise in poor health and economic inactivity among young adults? A study of transitions into employment” #episky @socsocmed.bsky.social #publichealth #diet @imperialmed.bsky.social

Anyone have any suggestions where a very good international PhD student can get 'top-up' funding to cover the international fees? So many schemes seem to be home-fees only these days! #episky #publichealth

The US was considered a world leader in public health and research. With one repressive stroke that reputation risks being broken, argue @jocalynclark.bsky.social and @kamranabbasi.bsky.social www.bmj.com/content/388/...

I'm also looking for a new post-doc to join my group at Imperial. Focus on trajectories of diet, sleep and other behaviours through early adulthood, and the influence of changing determinants. Need experience of longitudinal causal epi. Get in touch if interested! #episky @socsocmed.bsky.social

Leo just posted a 16-minute video summarizing the entire restoration process. Great place to start if you’re curious about what something like this entails, but don’t want to commit to 200+ episodes. Spoiler: it’s an insane amount of work! Basically a PhD in shipbuilding. youtu.be/dLjNRI2KtbY?...

Interesting study this, showing epigenetic memory within adipocytes. I know people will extrapolate all sorts from dieting, propensity to gain weight, etc... but on clinical level, biggest takeaway for me is the importance to prevent development of obesity in the first place. #epigenetics #MedSky

A very cool looking 'manual' from @dollyvantulleken.bsky.social and @nestauk.bsky.social offering practical advice about how to make the politics work to reduce obesity. The interviewed 3(!!!) former Prime Ministers and numerous former Health Secs www.nesta.org.uk/report/nouri...
