The Ford Government is a perfect case study in the failings of one-party governments. The greenbelt scandal also comes to mind. A one-party government will always try to get away with whatever it can against the will of the voters, and it leads to inconsistent policy and lots of wasted time.

Let’s call this what it is: punishing downtown ridings with bike lanes because they don’t vote PC, trying to win over suburban swing voters instead. With proportional representation, every vote counts. Even downtown votes matter. It’s time to demand change. #onpoli

No more blue wall, red wall: How electoral reform could stop regional election sweeps nationalnewswatch.com/2025/05/14/n...

Here are the crosstabs from yesterday's poll from Research Co. But don't just take one poll for granted, over the last two decades, there have been many polls conducted on proportional representation in Canada. Most show overwhelming support for its implementation. See here: www.fairvote.ca/polls/

Time and time again, Canadians have made themselves clear. Between public consultation at the 2016 ERRE committee, and poll-after-poll, Canadians want proportional representation. It's time for our elected officials to take some accountability and follow through with electoral reform.

Imagine being able to rank candidates and having multiple MPs elected for your region. That's STV, one form of proportional representation where party standings reflect voter preferences.

Does your local MP really matter? Ask the voters Under First-Past-the-Post democracy, we put a lot of stake in our local representative. However, Canadian voters tend to focus more on the party that they support than the candidates themselves. open.substack.com/pub/electora...

"A voting system that effectively bins 3/5ths of all votes cast is leading to alienation & distrust, as stated in the party programme before the 2024 election.. The government must set up a National Commission to design a better electoral system for a better democracy" 🌹 @sandyofipswich.bsky.social
