Obviously, extremists are not where to begin, and should largely be avoided. But starting these awkward, uncomfortable conversations with what we may feel is an "enemy" may save our democracy, and many lives, in the long run.

Many of us feel burned by the third of the country that voted this man in, and the third that abstained from voting entirely. However, much like in a relationship, blame will get us nowhere. We need to bridge the political divide. If there is an us vs. them, it's the people vs. the elite.

I'm not seeing a lot of people start the conversation of what we, as Americans, can do about the state of our country. Start grassroots organizations, build up slowly from the ground. Get in touch with your local community and TALK to each other. Republicans are more open than we believe.
