Usually we're only hosting a pair of red-shouldered hawks, but this year there is a welcomed third wheel. Meet C, our backyard Cooper's hawk! C isn't shy, has been a daily visitor for several weeks, and is sharing the starlings with the red-shouldereds. #coopershawk #getoutside #becurious

Backhoe is back in action. 2 days of symptoms & then 100% normal. I am suspicious it was over-zealous cockeral (she's his fave) related rather than disease (possibly water aspiration, because he'll try to get his rocks off whether she's eating, drinking, or otherwise). #backyardchickens #chickenlife

Bird down; our 3 year old buff orp, Backhoe. No problems & then this afternoon unable to run around the yard without sitting and gasping. If still, she's ok. Either our endemic myco or an URI & hopefully NOT avian influenza. Everything & everyone else is fine, so far. #backyardchickens
