France plans to recognize a Palestinian state within months and could make the move at a UN conference in New York in June on settling the Israel-Palestinian conflict, President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview broadcast Wednesday. www.ctvnews.ca/world/articl...

“The far bigger threat from Trump’s ‘liberation day’ was a sharp escalation in the US–China conflict that could now plausibly turn violent within the next couple years,” warns @jwdwerner.bsky.social. responsiblestatecraft.org/china-tariffs/

Boston has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever

For years, students and faculty at The University of Pennsylvania have been targeted and doxxed by Canary Mission, a faceless pro-Israel “blacklist” group. Documents reveal the group is funded by the family of a University of Pennsylvania trustee. theintercept.com/2025/04/02/p...

Responding to criticism that Dems aren’t doing enough, Cory Booker set a (new and made up) record for “longest speech” in the U.S. Senate & didn’t delay or block any specific vote or break Strom Thurmond’s record filibuster of the Civil Rights Act. Am I getting all that right?

“My job,” Chuck Schumer told Bret Stephens, “is to keep the left pro-Israel.” The job of a U.S. senator is to maintain support for a foreign country with his left-wing constituents? www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/o...

“Unjust detention is indicative of the anti-Palestinian racism that both the Biden and Trump administrations have demonstrated over the past 16 months as the U.S. has continued to supply Israel with weapons to kill Palestinians…” says Mahmoud Khalil. inthesetimes.com/article/mahm...

Miriam Adelson is quietly managing a campaign targeting Mahmoud Khalil and Columbia University. She’s also Trump’s largest donor. The Israeli American billionaire appears to be getting everything she wants with the WH’s crack down on criticism of Israel.

I wonder if the Democrats, the presumptive opposition party, may have done anything recently to make the White House feel empowered in challenging the separation of powers.

Current vibes on Bluesky.

This paragraph in NYT is misleading about the “definition of antisemitism” Trump is demanding Columbia implement. The definition utilized by Trump explicitly equates anti-Zionism with antisemitism, opening the door to any criticisms of Israeli policy being labeled antisemitic.

Trump, among other demands, is requiring Columbia to equate anti-Zionism with antisemitism in order to receive federal funding. 👇

Ann Coulter and Candace Owens are NOT on board with Trump's attempt to deport a green card holder in retaliation for political speech.

Oldie but a goodie.

The oval office blowup between Trump and Zelensky was disastrous in many ways but also revealed some hard truths: this war needs to end, and it’s not a moment too soon. This war needs to end for the sake of Ukraine, its post war security, its prosperity, its future. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qrww...

“There was fault on both sides for the way things got out of hand; but Zelensky was the more foolish participant, because (as Trump pointed out) he is the one in the weak position.” responsiblestatecraft.org/zelensky/

It’s hard to calculate the damage done by MSNBC over the yrs. They turned “resistance” into a partisan, passive, Corp pursuit, blacked out climate, covered up Biden’s cognitive decline, cowered in the face of a 24/7 streamed genocide & gave Dems a free pass they used to betray working ppl.

Imagine reading this paragraph ten years ago.

The US is the world’s largest single humanitarian donor though foreign assistance represented less than 1% of the congressional budget in 2023. That adds up to about $210/yr for the average taxpayer, compared with more than $2,800/yr for defense. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/0...

Lockheed’s CEO boasted to investors about the incredible “value” to U.S. taxpayers provided by the $1.7 trillion F-35 program. Hours later, another F-35 experienced a “malfunction” and crashed. Is this what a boondoggle looks like? responsiblestatecraft.org/f-35-crash/

“By refusing to follow his country’s own laws, Biden himself is a partner to these war crimes [by Israel in Gaza],” writes @jeetheer.bsky.social in @thenation.com. “Like Lady Macbeth, his hands will be forever stained with blood.” www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Biden: "Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that really threatens our entire democracy..." Also Joe Biden: Here’s a Presidential Medal of Freedom for the billionaire cofounder of the Carlyle Group.

"[F]or 15 months, Israel has dropped American bombs on children in tents, on refugees sheltering in schools, and on patients seeking help in hospitals without President Joe Biden exerting any 'real pressure' on Israel to stop," writes Trita Parsi. responsiblestatecraft.org/biden-ceasef...

Biden’s warnings paint a dark picture of America’s future & reflects his view that Trump poses an existential threat. BUT over the past year he continued the flow of weapons for a genocide rather than reverse course, save civilian lives & help Harris retain their 2020 voters.🤷‍♂️

The "Counter Extremism Project," a group appearing to be a front for Saudi funding and influence washing, just purchased the former home of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss, featured in "The Zone of Interest." The New York Times omitted all the KSA ties. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/15/w...

“More than a third of top foreign policy think tanks in the U.S. don’t disclose any donor information,” Ben Freeman told @schaffermichael.bsky.social. In other words, dark money is funding the research and advocacy that helps shape American foreign policy. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

Pope Francis drew the ire of the Israeli government on the eve of Christmas week by calling the bombing and killing of children "cruelty." The Israeli Foreign Ministry said his remarks were “particularly disappointing.”

Bret Stephens is applying for a job at The Onion. There's no other reasonable explanation.

Pete Hegseth is being “escorted” around Capitol Hill by a paid lobbyist for Saudi Arabia?!

Would have been nice if Biden had used the waning days of his presidency to end the ethnic cleansing in Gaza being conducted with US weapons. But at least Hunter won’t be ruining the Biden family Christmas by CONSTANTLY bringing up a pardon. That’s nice. www.wsj.com/politics/pre...

As the Senate votes on Bernie Sanders bill to block an arms sale package to Israel, AIPAC runs ads attacking Sanders & J Street and boasts about raising $14.5m to defeat Jamal Bowman in his Dem primary. To be clear, AIPAC is threatening Democrats.

Apropos of nothing, AIPAC started running Facebook ads yesterday boasting about how they're the "top fundraiser for Democrats."

WH on Oct 13: Israel must improve humanitarian situation in Gaza or arms transfers may be cutoff. WH on Nov 20: An arms transfers cutoff would "put wind in the sails of Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas at the worst possible moment." https://buff.ly/3OjZRWW 🤨

“The US had reservations and suggested that we not enter Gaza,” said Netanyahu. “It had reservations about entering Gaza City, Khan Younis, and, most critically, strongly opposed entry into Rafah.” NEVERTHELESS, Biden provided at least $17.9bn in weapons. www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-sa...

Worldwide spending on nuclear weapons rose by $10.8 billion between 2022 and 2023 with 80% of the increase coming from the United States. Weapons companies enjoyed $31 billion in 2023 nuke related revenue. Does any of this spending make us safer? responsiblestatecraft.org/world-powers...
