#Episky: do you have any suggestions on a resource I can share with a non-epidemiologist to explain in plain terms the evidence supporting the safety of vaccines (in terms of autism as the outcome)? 🙏

First time I saw this from an editor: Please also note that the quality of report submitted by reviewer 2 was not up to our standards & we do not think that this reviewer has reviewed the paper. Therefore we have not taken their feedback into consideration when making a decision on this manuscript

Silence on DEI creates a vacuum for opponents to fill with misconceptions. It is not legally risky to advocate for: - Greater diversity of personnel - Fairness & equity in policies & procedures - Culture of inclusion in which employees feel they belong hbr.org/2025/02/the-...

Really bad news about NIH cutting overhead costs allowed. I’m surprised at the overhead at American universities- maybe they cover different things, like rent or something? My overhead at Karolinska Institute is 24%. Doesn’t include rent or IT costs.

Great to see @elizabetharkema.bsky.social's lupus work recently published in 'Rheumatology' #BSR and featured in Contemporary OB/GYN. Congrats!! "Menopausal hormone therapy linked to increased risk of SLE and SSc" #lupus #SLE www.contemporaryobgyn.net/view/menopau...

Every spring, Karolinska Institutet has a call for funded faculty positions. It’s a great place for epidemiology and science in general. Keep a look out at this space! (New positions not posted yet) staff.ki.se/your-employm...

Where are all the public health and medical societies?! Every organization should be up in arms. The integrity of our field and the populations we seek to protect are under grave threat.

BREAKING NEWS: Research and basic information on subjects ranging from tuberculosis surveillance to adolescent health disappeared from federal health agency websites.

🔥 There are so many things happening in recent events that worry me about the disenfranchised, chronically ill, and most vulnerable in our society! Here is a piece from @LupusMore highlighting an important, horrible problem: www.morethanlupus.com/post/how-rol...

Hi, Vox reporter here: If you've had a study section, NIH travel, or other NIH-related meeting cancelled (or not), raise your hand! Reply or DM me, and repost for visibility if you're able. #academicsky @drugmonkey.bsky.social

Attending the thesis defense of Joshua Entrop - "Development and application of modern statistical methods for studies of childbearing among lymphoma survivors" Very nice work in clinical epidemiology! 👏@karolinskainst.bsky.social

Attending the PhD defense of my former master's student Joshua Entrop. One of my favorite things about my job is how rewarding it is to see students develop and become such talented researchers!

Our study on inflammatory proteins measured before sarcoidosis diagnosis was recently published. We show that markers of inflammation in sarcoidosis patients are higher compared to controls many years before diagnosis. We used biobanked samples from Northern Sweden Health & Disease Study #EpiSky

This might be a call into the void, buuut... A few other local MA epis & I are working on establishing protocol for local data sharing & suppression - specifically for small numbers. If you are a local or regional epi (anywhere in the US) please reach out! We need your insight 🙏 #episky (1/3)
