We just unanimously passed a bipartisan bill honoring the lives of Melissa and Mark Hortman & condemning political violence. As their kids Sophie and Colin said - let's continue honoring their memory by doing something to make our community just a little better for someone else.

We’re lighting the I-35W bridge green tonight and tomorrow in honor of Melissa Hortman, who found joy and peace in trees and gardens 🌳

Former President Joe Biden paid respects to Melissa and Mark Hortman as they lie in state at the Minnesota Capitol.

Linking Minnesota park passes to vehicle registration could mean lower costs for visitors and more revenue for the state, the DNR says.

Morning sun through crabapple leaves as they transition from spring bronze to summer green color. If I was a serious photographer, I'd have opened the window and removed the screen for a cleaner image, but in these darkening times I'll grab whatever beauty I can in the moment.

Only 5 days ago, Governor Walz posted about the successful conclusion of the 2025 legislative session as a beacon of democracy. Pictured left to right are House Speaker Lisa DeMuth (R), Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy (D), and House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman (D) - may she rest in peace.

The most consequential Speaker in state history.

Honor Melissa. Use your right to assemble and protest. Platform and uphold Black and Indigenous voices. “I hate to break up the 100 percent white male card game in the retiring room,” Hortman said. “But I think this is an important debate.” www.minnpost.com/politics-pol...

Quick reminder to the armchair analysists out there speculating over little #mnlege floor charts: Knock it off, you absolute goblins. The legislative year just ended. A seat is the least important thing Minnesota lost to a bullet today.

I know some of the people involved in the Data Rescue Project. They are absolute heroes.

The “seniority matters” mindset within the Democratic caucus is shameful and will be our downfall, and is why we should absolutely encourage primaries along generational lines. No one is entitled to power.

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, we’re finally on our own, this summer I hear the drumming: four dead in Ohio. #KentState #55years

Minnesota is suing President Donald Trump’s administration for targeting trans children through executive orders, Attorney General Keith Ellison announced. “We will not let a small group of vulnerable children, who are only trying to be healthy and to live their lives, be demonized,” Ellison said.

Since the first Earth Day in 1970, Minnesota has set an example for working towards a cleaner environment. The state continues to strive for cleaner water and air, recycling, renewable energy and increasing climate change awareness.

Just in case you aren’t aware, this is a very useful Bluesky feed to subscribe to, especially if you are interested in long form doomscrolling.

Andor season one didn’t have to go so hard as a dense, methodical political drama laying out the ways fascism creeps and authoritarianism takes hold, but it did. If you understandably dismissed it as just another Disney+ Star Wars show, it very much is not, and it will hit extra hard right now.
