I have missed you Dr. Isaacs!!!

I am so sorry @kscincotta.bsky.social ... this is even harder for early stage investigators and trainees. I sincerely hope that things change for the better so that passionate and innovative new scientists have a future.

So a former postdoc from our department had just started as a PO at NIH and was terminated in the wave of terminations last week. He is in the research triangle and a phenomenal scientist with expertise in stress and glia. If anyone in the RTI is hiring asap please let me know! #neuroskyence

This is incredibly stressful to our Alzheimer's community (families and researchers). There are Alzheimer Disease Research Centers that are in limbo now - no council meetings means no notice of awards, means all the research we are doing to slow or prevent this disease is paused indefinitely.

We're now hiring for a Director of our Center for Data-Driven Discovery. The ideal candidate will spearhead efforts to create new methods for representing, analyzing, and interpreting large-scale biological data. Learn more and apply: alleninstitute.org/careers/jobs... #compneuro

The NIH funding cap on indirect costs will eviscerate scientific research from the inside. Universities won’t be able to support researchers, biomedical progress will slow, & YOUR health will be harmed. Plus, widespread economic collapse. Read more ⬇️ news.immunologic.org/p/the-nih-in...

Thank goodness for the American Medical Association. Here is their YouTube page. Please share far and wide. Right now bird flu is spreading throughout our country and most people have no clue. Yup.

This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen. Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !” globalnews.ca/news/9793403...

Another assault on US competitiveness at a time when biomedicine is roaring with innovation, an own-goal in a high-stakes international tournament. Of course the real losers are American people needing medicines and cures. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

This was my brother who had DS & Alzheimers. Music brought him so much joy throughout life, but it really helped keep him happy during Alzheimers. He benefitted from DEI & an education-he worked in a salon, washing towels, making coffee & sweeping hair & the customers loved him. Best person I knew!

Same!

Devastating.

Not all heroes wear capes.

This is making my hair stand up on end. Srsly. WTF. Easy to find the website - and its horrifying.

I needed some good science ;-)

Oh geez.

Damn. How can we even talk about self-advocates now?

Canada is no longer selling liquor from the US.

Thank you, Canada!

An anonymous person at the CDC just archived all the public CDC datasets as of 1/28 and uploaded it to archive.org

My sincere and heartfelt thank you to our NIH program officers - who quite frankly - are going through hell right now.

I was secretly going to buy Canadian goods here in the USA..just as my own quiet way of rebelling. Thank you for this list :-) Buy Crown Royal!

Let me give a concrete example of the importance of applications with high risk-high reward as well as the role of NIH staff in taking risks. Decades ago, a physical chemist proposed ideas about doing mass spectrometry on proteins (when this was deemed probably impossible). 1/n
