The way 18F worked - human-centered, in the open, with a real eye for inclusive change that saved real resources - is antithetical to Musk's mindset of believing yourself to be the smartest person in the room and forcing people to use your systems based on your own values. Another loss to hubris.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F. 18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it. We made this website to tell our story: 18f.org

I just went for a run in air quality that currently scores as moderate, and came back with a cough, which happens when the air is not clean. BECAUSE EXERCISE CANNOT CANCEL OUT A POLLUTED ENVIRONMENT. No matter how much we try to magic think it to be the case.
