My daughter - a former @corybooker.com staffer - watched the last few hours of his floor speech from gallery. Said it was spiritual - 25 hrs like Yom Kippur with the same lull around 4 and the same uplift with setting sun like Neilah. Whole caucus was there, many in tears. 🫡 to John Lewis.

❤️ @corybooker.com for the whole thing and for remembering the 58 hostages.🎗️

Really smart piece - ambitious international AI governance not going to happen. Will be small bore, crisis-driven, reactive. Need narrow policy responses in the drawer ready to go. writing.antonleicht.me/p/the-early-...

Watch especially the befinning and end of this soeech by Frnch Senator Claude Malhuret. An American Nero, a capitulating, thieving traitor is a tragedy for America and the world. He looks to American protest and “freedom loving” people to set things right. m.youtube.com/watch?v=QIK9...

The PECO building in Center City Philadelphia has huge LED chyrons we can easily see from our dining table. Over the weekend, they broadcast “we value diversity, equity, and inclusion”. Visiting friends from DC said they see none of that in the District. They felt a little less lonely #Philly

The guy who asked Zelensky if he owned a suit, Brian Glenn, is a reporter for the pro-Trump media network Real America’s Voice and also Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's boyfriend. He got one of the rare Oval Office interviewer spots only after the White House blocked the Associated Press.

Mostly academics want to stay in our offices and do our research. But there has never been a more important time for people to bring evidence-based insights to the broader conversation. Important insights from Adam here.

Didn’t we grow up learning that American businesses succeeded because of a culture of criticism? And that foreign armies failed when subordinates were too afraid to identify flaws? Bad info —> bad outcomes here on Earth.

I love that Dara Horn said “the Jewish people have plot armor protection.” As Purim approaches, the story continues.

Bezos sets new policy for Post opinion: free markets ,"personal liberties. OK so this should favor vigorous antitrust enforcement, data portability, reproductive and gender freedom, a politically independent judiciary, and press freedoms including rights against govt viewpoint discrimination.

“You have to create alternative frames.” Framing/ storytelling is political rhetoric 101. Too many fact checkers in Dem leadership and not enough storytellers.

What DC US Attorney is shitposting — he’s getting hammered for being wrong on law, on facts, on basics of US government… and also on grammar.

This infrastructure creates prosperity. The average car costs $12,544 annually—fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, financing, and parking—most of which leaves the community. For every 15,000 vehicles a city reduces its rate of ownership, $127 million remains in the local economy each year.

This is really important. We’re in a time when good things we’ve achieved need to be fiercely fought for & passionately protected, including NYC’s smart, successful de-congestion pricing. Watch & share @streetfilms.bsky.social’s great video from yesterday’s protest with @misernyc.bsky.social & more.

Today Hamas partied around coffins of murdered Jews. The coffins were on stage, festive music played. Families gathered, children hoisted high. In the coffins were 2 Bibas children and mom Shiri. Only Shiri’s coffin contained someone else. She’s missing. The babies murdered. And the BBC reported:

“The second fallacy we’ve heard is that AI requires a tradeoff – between safety and progress, between competition and collaboration, and between rights and innovation. But each of these is a false choice.”

I wasn’t one who decried ABC’s settlement of the Trump defamation “rape” case as craven or “obeying in advance.” Seemed pretty typical after losing motion to dismiss. But CBS settlement of nonsense claim re. 60 mins would be inexcusable, dangerous. freedom.press/issues/legen...
