setting up a temporary machine install 1 password and setup SSH client install atuin and sync bash history git clone running 😍

🐢 "Atuin replaces your existing shell history with a SQLite database, and records additional context for your commands. Additionally, it provides optional and fully encrypted synchronization of your history between machines." And it's open-source! 👇 🔗 atuin.sh 🔗 github.com/atuinsh/atuin

>16,000 people syncing their shell history with Atuin Cloud ✨❤️

just like ~this time last year, i tried to do too much without resting enough, so my body decided when I should rest and ofc it wasn't the best timing. maybe I'll learn my lesson this time

I'm in SF until the 24th, if anyone fancies a chat about devtools/terminals/other cool stuff!

ssh is such a cool protocol

kubectl-ing from 38,000ft 😌

At @oxide.computer, we love terminal UIs--sure, for the retro appeal, but more for their simplicity and universality on systems we build and debug. Last night, @orhun.dev joined @bcantrill.bsky.social and me to talk about ratatui, the Rust framework for building incredible TUIs. youtu.be/VbLz79trgz8

Periodic reminder that if you haven't given atuin.sh a go yet, it's well worth trying! I've been thinking of writing a post for a while called "things I actually use", talking about all the tools that have stuck as part of my workflow over the years. Atuin is one of them.

"Atuin solved all my problems with history" "It really is a game changer for working on the console and I can't recommend it enough" For years I just wanted to make something that people used, and I'm super happy to have done so ❤️

huh cursor is pretty good actually

me: why is my shell history so chonky me: *overuses tf out of heredocs*

trying Asahi Fedora on a m2 macbok air and... I think this might be the best linux laptop?

with slack you only need 200 laughs

i hate waiting for software. offline first is the future

Runbook blocks can now share data via variables and templating. What happens in one terminal affects the next - no more copy/pasting between commands

no issues with my incredibly last minute train and hotel booking for FOSDEM, phew 😮‍💨

Who’s going to FOSDEM? I was so busy this year I forgot, but might make a last minute trip

averaging 10 records/sec uploaded to Atuin cloud over the last week so much shell :O
