Most likely explanation is that the militia wing of the President's supporters, whom the President praised and pardoned for previous attacks on democracy, harassed citizens seeking to express dissent. This is the story of many authoritarian states - is it the American story now?

Verdict on these: pretty good! Didn’t get as crisp as an Eggo, but I attribute that to not toasting them enough. Bonus: because I made them, I know exactly what went into them.

To me, a Nazi salute means, "I want to murder your family." There can be no irony about it: It puts deep anger and hatred in my heart to see it done and I will never forgive anyone who justifies or minimizes it.

Polestar 2 is a great car. Back window is a little small, which takes some getting used to, but when you’re not putting money into the pocket of a fascist, it’s worth it.

Important message that our founders believed in very strongly:

Missed this. Two things: 1) Happy to be the enemy of MAGA 2) Fuck off, Nazi

OK honest question what is the root of this? Is this just how you think on drugs?

“A senior military official with knowledge of the firings added that the military lawyers had “zero heads up” that they were being removed from office and that the top brass in the Army, Navy and Air Force were also caught unaware.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

NO KINGS is extremely effective because it’s simple, an extremely widely held belief, and gets right to the core of Trump’s assault without having to use words lots of people don’t understand

Seems bad.

They do nothing that does not have corruption at its core. Follow the money.

NEW — The National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 282 just emailed its ~8,000 employee members strongly advising them NOT to reply to the “What did you do last week?” email from OPM/Musk.

Quite a moment when top military commanders are reacting to Elon's latest manic weekend email outburst as though it's a provocation from a rival state power

Two threads, one embedded in the one below, both worth reading:

Making freezer waffles as a way of coping.

Honestly this is just stupid (and a waste of time). Ft Knox is audited every year. As is the Fed, btw

This is 100%. Almost everything in the constitution is general or implied. The document literally says there's going to be a post office and congress is in charge of setting it up, deciding what it's rules are.

So sick of this shit. Someone tell Fox News Grandpa that he doesn’t have to understand trans people but he does have to respect their right to live and stop denying their humanity and stop scapegoating them. Our trans family and friends are not the enemy.

Who’s going to evaluate the answers? Big Balls? Grok? Of course the assumption behind this question is that all federal employees are slackers taking advantage of taxpayers, and no one is to be trusted. If that’s Elon’s experience, it says a lot about how he manages his companies, and nothing good.

No one voted for this Nazi weasel dipshit, he should not be in charge of the federal workforce

I’m struck by how much the most vehement theocrats behave like they don’t fear the judgment of an angry God

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

let me say that this is the classic “just asking questions” approach to delegitimizing the achievements of black people. and critically, you don’t even have to be a black person who talks about race. simply being black to these people means you are “obsessed with race.”

The way these clowns are going about gutting other agencies, with no regard to what the employees they’re firing actually do, there’s no way this won’t harm our national security.

Well, yeah - they don’t know and they don’t care to know. They’re sledgehammers.

Civil-rights lawyer here. In my business, this is called prima facie evidence of invidious race & gender discrimination. And the other chiefs—all white men—are comparators. The evidence in support of the discrimination claim includes Trump‘s own “DEI” statements admitting to discriminatory motive.

I've often insisted that we need to keep our eyes on Trump's actions more than his words (because so many of the words are bluster & lies). Now we have a genuinely dangerous action: a purge at the Pentagon, notably a purge of the top figures who can decide if Trump's commands are unconstitutional.

Donald Trump’s firing of military leaders — four-star General Brown and four-star Admiral Franchetti — along with top legal officers is a betrayal of legions of first rate service members who dedicate their lives to our nation’s defense. This is a growing national security risk.

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.

Firing all of the JAGs (Judge Advocates General)—the top lawyers in each service branch—is just as bad as, if not worse than, firing (most of) the Joint Chiefs.

Fucking hell

More dangerous bullshit from Trump. The Pentagon’s only loyalty should be to the Constitution, but you can be sure Trump wants loyalty to him above all else.

History rhymes encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/t...

This matters. Please pay attention. Please understand why this current administration wants to marginalize trans people. And please understand that if you're not a cis white hetero man -- you're next.

So the President has abruptly fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Charles Q. Brown Jr., and is replacing him with a retired three star general, Dan Caine. This portends a future grave crisis as the President attempts to restructure the military into one personally loyal to him.

This is climate arson, yes, but also the entire value proposition of Tesla, the reason for its insane stock price, is that it would end up the Amazon of electric cars: the only real game in town. Killing off non-Tesla electric car infrastructure is a gift to Musk.

Like all bullies, he’s a pissy little prick of a man who can’t handle people standing up to him.

WOW "Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods." ⤵️

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Of course he’s not joking. He intends to be president until he dies, and maybe after he’s dead, too, just hook him up to a Tesla battery and keep him away from sharks, work on that in your spare time, Elon

Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 explicitly gives the power of establishing the postal service to Congress, not the executive.

It's a Nazi salute. No more gaslighting. Call it out for what it is. Or embrace it if you're into the bigotry.

In addition to Congress being the place that makes the laws, pretty key thing, the constitution explicitly says Congress gets to create the postal system. It’s not left implied that that comes under law making generally. The President has no power to unilaterally abolish it and move it to commerce.
