I know we feel despondent today, but Donald Trump has single-handedly eviscerated almost every argument for Republican government for over half a century. They hold onto him like a savior because it's not clear what else they have when he's gone.

America would be a rich country except we give it all away on transgender operations. Fuck this guy. He will rot in hell, we will celebrate his death, and the country will move on.

Anyone justifying national Democrats' current strategy to you is committing massive, possibly world historic political malpractice, including the elected officials themselves.

The reply email inbox for this “what did you do last week” email is [email protected], so, you know, definitely don’t send them any unrelated messages that would interfere with their ability to carry out Elon’s dumbass bullshit

Running thread of people trying to normalize the sieg heil. It's not an "Elon gesture", it's not autism, it's not your heart going out, it's not parody or trolling. It's fucking despicable. Don't ever let this shit become normal. Fuck any excuse given, there is none. Zero tolerance. 1. Elon Musk

Republicans have just decided to let Nazi Special K run the entire government as an unelected immigrant and it's interesting to think what strategies they will employ to help people forget this ever happened.

It's funny that Elon Musk is behaving exactly as he did when he first took over Twitter, which quickly ran the company right into the ground and destroyed its economic value. I'm sure that won't happen with the US of A.

Is Elon Musk the boss of every federal worker in America? He seems to think he is. Someone should ask the President about this. After he's finished golfing.

I don’t know how many different ways to say that agency personnel don’t work for Elon. They don’t have to report to Elon. They report to their agency leadership, which reports to the President.

As a professor of the law of government secrecy, I'm astonished at the silence of the national security heads who for 50 years acted as if our lives were in danger every time a single document or bit of data went missing from a federal file. Democrats: Don't rebuild that system. It was a lie.

Trump is taking a wrecking ball to so many things - the Constitution, NATO, the UN, the ICC, not to mention many of the protocols of CIA & NSA - that Democrats should probably start thinking about which of these institutions we will commit to rebuilding, and which we might allow to dissolve.

A few points about these very interesting exchanges: 1. Belton notes, shrewdly, that Trump laying claim to Greenland, the Panama Canal, even Canada sends a message to China and Russia that empires are there to be seized by the handful of strongmen controlling the largest territories.

These people are SO. WEIRD. Democrats should be hammering and hammering this kind of stuff. How is it possible THIS GUY (?) is heading the government of America's Christian fundamentalists?

Cults do burn out. They seem impervious to reason while they're going strong, but then suddenly - it's gone. If that moment comes during the first year of Trump's presidency, he's going to find that he's much too weak even to remain as President. He will be impeached and removed.

This is probably optimistic, but the way MAGA knows Elon Musk is not one of them could undermine Trump's hold on his base. This freaky orange dude who orders up foreign brides from a skin flick catalog while he's fucking porn stars on the side-Trump should be worried about Elon rubbing off on him.

You can judge the uselessness of the Democratic Party by its failure to nail these sociopathic fuckwits to the wall as Public Enemies. Our party wakes up every day and finds new ways not to capitalize on how weird and unrelatable these people are. How is that even possible?

We have an administration supposedly voted in by diners from the Heartland but it's currently being run by a rapist from New York City and a creepy pervert from Silicon Valley. MAGA senses Elon Musk does not belong in their camp. He amplifies the unease that Trump, too, is not one of them.

This dude is super weird. This dude is super creepy. Most polls of Republicans indicate that even if they don't like trans kids, they don't share Trump's love of cruelty. Elon's hatred of his own child, and the fact of having dozens of kids with mothers he hardly knows - none of this is good.

Feeling optimistic again today. This isn't going well at all. People are getting more and more pissed off, and Trump doesn't have a plan for dealing with the crises right on the horizon. There's a real chance this Presidency stalls and kind of flames out in a matter of months.

The question of how we survive the Trump administration seems less urgent today than the question of how Trumpism survives the Trump administration. We're headed for inflation, possibly a recession, massive cuts to key entitlement programs - and a broad majority of seriously pissed off voters.

What Trump does is he throws his people under the bus when things go wrong. People don't stick around his administration for very long. We should give Elon Musk a few more months at best, but that man will not go quietly, in part because he legitimately fears being prosecuted.

This is not going to last much longer. Trump can't continue to golf while Elon Musk runs the government. Republicans are freaking out behind the scenes and even Trump must be sensible of the danger. But how does Trump get rid of him? There's a storm on this horizon.

Listen to the CPAC crowd. They aren't enjoying Apartheid Clyde's antics. When he says, "I am become meme," no one laughs or claps. This will not end well. Elon is tripping balls on Special K and his team has broken about a thousand laws and violated the rights of tens of millions of Americans.

Elon Musk has $350 billion and all he really wants is for someone to think he's cool.

Doing this while your child's mother is frantically trying to get in touch with you

The Republican Party is apologizing for things no one should ever apologize for, like letting this man hack and download every American's financial data.

The most important thing I learned at Harvard: Human beings are all of roughly equal intelligence. My Harvard students were not inherently smarter than my hoodlum high school buddies. Inherent superiority is a capitalist myth to justify unequal possession of wealth.

The US Constitution is a mess. Instead of complaining that Republicans have discarded it, maybe we should see this as an opportunity to finally get beyond it.

States like California should NOT continue to tolerate being represented in the US Senate at the same level as Wyoming or South Dakota. If Wyoming has 2 Senators, do you know how many California should have by population? 132. Californians: We are short 130 US Senators. Why do we tolerate it?

The single greatest "error" of the Constitution is that its whole system of checks & balances was written before the age of modern political parties, which immediately supervened and rendered the whole system unworkable in many respects. Constitution worship is just weird. It's a flawed document.
