Sending love today to young trans people in the US. The bigotry of your Supreme Court has made your lives harder as the bigotry of our Government made harder the lives of young trans people here. But we know: their bigotry does not extinguish the joy that your transition will bring - nor prevent it.

A very well-written and perceptive article. iandunt.substack.com/p/judgement-...

The difference between the airtime given to this and the equally tragic deaths of those Israelis killed by Iranian missiles in recent days is very striking. Whatever else it shows, it demonstrates the impact of broadcast journalists being allowed into some places and forbidden from entering others.

The looting of America. Trump and Co’s extraordinary conflicts of interest. US politics have long been corrupt. Trump taken it to new levels. Personal fortunes from Bitcoin, internet, EVs, phones, cars, private dinners and more. Can the UK be far behind?

The plight of women in Florida is dystopian, including the rise of fake abortion clinics offering the untested practice of "abortion reversal." After the failure of the abortion rights referendum in the state, the situation will get worse. Our News Agents film. www.youtube.com/watch?v=df5B...

Every day, another deliberate massacre of starving civilians. Silence speaks louder than words. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

Today is set to be an historic day: the decriminalisation of abortion in England and Wales. No more women questioned and criminalised for exercising our human right to bodily integrity.

V good paper by @echrhawk.bsky.social - 'The Human Rights Act under Siege: The Vulnerability of Fundamental Rights Protection under the UK Constitution' - reflecting on implications of legislation passed in 'dying days' of last govt. A sobering conclusion. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Just finished recording the audiobook of 'How to Fall in Love with the Future' which will be available same time the book comes out, June 17th. I hope you'll enjoy it! Thanks to Rowland O'Connor, Sorting Room Studios, sage and honey tea for preserving my voice and @chelseagreenbooks.bsky.social.

Just days ago, Brad Lander called me to interpret for an Arabic-speaking asylee whose case was approved, yet ICE was still harassing him inside the building. Brad personally escorted him out to safety. He does this kind of work quietly, every day.

A @bas.ac.uk tradition... when the ship departs Rothera Research Station for the last time, the winterers remaining on base light flares to bid us farewell. They will now continue their science and activities on base throughout the winter, while we proceed back to sea to continue ours. 🧪❄️🥼🌊

A great win, with national implications. At last, councils will have to take into account the cumulative effects of livestock factories on river catchments. It's all about increments of excrement. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

So many people will say on record that they like candidates like Trump and Cuomo BECAUSE they’re bullies. And this belief stems from people seeing over the course of their lives that bullies get what they want and don’t get held accountable, so having a bully as a leader must be desirable

Yeah, not 'Net Zero' as the Telegraph tried to have you believe www.independent.co.uk/news/world/e...

I don't know what it's going to take to stop this kind of thing from happening, but I am 100% sure that the answer isn't "Andrew Cuomo."

🛫 ❌ "Estimates reveal a picture that is “at complete odds with the report’s narrative and media coverage: millionaires are highly immobile, and nearly 100% of millionaires have not relocated to a new country since 2013" More lies from the RW media...

The EHRC's lawyers have conceded its position on single sex toilets is wrong. goodlaw.social/z87e

Notice how nobody talks about 'Christian' grooming gangs when discussing the long history of child sexual abuse in care homes and sports clubs. Funny that.

Every day. Deliberate massacres of unarmed, starving civilians. The world does nothing. A shame on all of us. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Far-right MP Rupert Lowe missed the grooming gangs debate in Parliament today, to have an appointment with the police to try and get his (seized) guns back

Ironically, and off the top of my head, she is immediately ‘cancelling’ Ophelia, Desdemona, Portia, Othello & Shylock. Also, why does she think so many female characters dressed up as men to enjoy agency or, while we’re here, they were *all* literally played by actual males for years?

It’s important to remember that the columnists who revere this weirdo, and the broadcasters who hand her season tickets & free passes galore, also understand nothing of Shakespeare. A truth rarely clearer than when they cite him in defence of ‘British values’.

“Without a distinction between truth and lies, there is no grounding for a distinction between good and evil,” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Gibraltar CM personally fact-checking the bad actors.

Britain's most comically illiterate headmistress strikes again. I mean... How could one find opportunities to discuss racism, in the context of Othello and The Merchant of Venice, or sexism, while teaching The Taming of The Shrew and Twelfth Night?

Russia was kicked out of the G7 in 2014 after Russia had attacked Ukraine initially, and a year before Trudeau was Canada's Prime Minister

So the millionaire exodus was a complete work of fiction.... built on dodgy data from a company flogging golden passports to billionaires. Henley & Partners spun a PR stunt and the media ran with it. 10,000 headlines later, the truth emerges: less than 0.3% of UK millionaires left. buff.ly/W0MDULn

Rothera Research Station looking amazing in the moonlight, with a hint of a dawn...

Girl who skipped dinner so parents could eat - the true reality of UK child poverty. Human suffering is hidden by numbers. 16m Britons live in poverty. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. 50 families have more wealth than 34m people. Poverty is a political choice.

The rise of dictators In societies where rules are broken without consequences and where the conditions for many citizens are bad, individuals perceive and learn that one should actually think of oneself first. Corruption, inequality, poverty are destroying sense of community. Govts promoting it.

England is not a modern country. The graphic below by @guyshrubsole.bsky.social in today's Observer underlines this fact.

Listening to an interview of a woman whose husband was taken by ICE. It’s very like the family stories I heard about Kristallnacht, but without the broken glass, and spread out rather than on one day. People desperate to get family members back but no idea how, and opposition at every point.

Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing

Kent, where these mendacious chancers took control of the County Council, has just been whacked by the worst flash floods in living memory. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

This looks like an 80s comedy where John Belushi & some stoners steal a tank for shits & giggles

Fortunate Son! An anti-war song about rich kids dodging military service!

Let’s be fair, if you made your wealth here you should pay tax here, if you prefer to live abroad who cares - the US has a good system for that - all citizens pay tax wherever in the world they live.  It’s fair, citizenship has benefits nobody should freeload.

Enjoying a moment of respite/optimism/schadenfreude on seeing the millions of people across America protesting Trump #NoKings while he sits sulking at his boring little birthday parade. Hope is not lost. Well done America.

The not so slow descent into authoritarianism...

This is, for me, where the Nazi/fascist parallels work best. ‘Good’ people did nothing as the awfulness escalated because they were justifiably terrified of getting their heads kicked in or killed. It’s about comparing similar points in the process as opposed to comparing end days with early ones.
