Got the results of my annual health check back. Overall score of C, which is what they give you if you need to consult with the doctor about something specific. In my case, it was the ol' LDLs creeping up. I also have a bad BMI (I'm short & thicc). Otherwise, I'm the picture of perfect health!

After nearly 30 years, how is it that I still feel like Shinji Ikari every damn day?

Sure, Japan.

Christ... TIL Jon Lovitz is still alive?? Why did I think he died like 15 years ago?? And he's gay and married to a meteorologist?? WTF.

Ah, spring! That time of year when you dig out your beloved t-shirts, polos, and short sleeves only to remember they haven’t fit you well for most of the 10+ years you’ve owned them, but even the thought of a trip to Uniqlo or H&M exhausts you, so you just continue wearing them.

Just logged into my retirement portal, and while I have recovered a bit since last week, so far, I've lost nearly 13% of my 401k. 😤

It is a 25ºC/77ºF day, and they still have the freaking heating on in this cafe.

My daughter has moved on from her unicorn obsession phase to her ninja assassin phase... currently mesmerized by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

I've had my current iphone for over 5 years, so my husband just bought me a new one for my upcoming birthday. Still have no idea what the pricing will be by then, so I guess it's best to just get it now.

My head hurts again, and I am sad. I'm heading to bed now... I hope tomorrow's a better day.

Someone in this building burned popcorn. It’s days like these I wish I didn’t have to come to Kumon with my daughter.

Brevet blanc today… already heard several of the other class’s presentations, and I’m so impressed. I’ve got twice as many in my own class, which I’ll hear over the next couple of days. Hopefully, they do just as well.

An actual conversation between my 7yo daughter & her grandparents... Them: Have you ever seen The Wizard of Oz? Her: Yes, I liked the evil witch the best! Them: Don't you remember Dorothy's dog? Her: No. Them: His name's Toto! Her: Frodo? Have you ever watched The Lord of the Rings? It's so good! 😅

I wish my hometown would do something like this. They try to market their Main Street boutiques, cafes, antique shops, salons, wine bars, etc. but no one wants to stop, even though there’s a literal highway that runs parallel to it that everyone merges onto eventually.

Next week is Spirit Week, so my school is allowing the kids to wear special outfits for each day. Friday is "gender swap" day. Although I know this could end up being problematic, I'm so glad it's not an American school. Actually, would this be illegal in an American school?

This is both horrifying and sad, and also why I will NEVER get on a helicopter no matter how beautiful the view may be. Nor will I allow my daughter to get on one. It's something my in-laws always want to do whenever we travel together. Absolutely not.

My barber moved from Kochijōji to Harajuku, which sucks because it's super touristy. It's a mess to get to, also, because I have to go to Shibuya at rush hour on the most crowded and most often delayed train line in Tokyo.

A strong, healthy chomper deserves some cash in the shape of fairy wings from the tooth fairy.

My daughter woke up feeling fine, then during breakfast she mentioned her tummy hurt and couldn’t continue eating. Got a call just before the end of class that she was in the infirmary with a fever of 38.5! I brought her home & she rested, puked, ate some crackers and went to bed. Poor thing!

Was up until 4 am getting the party favors done for my daughter’s bday party. I’m exhausted, but the party was a huge success! Perfect weather, happy 7 year olds, and good conversation with the parents. And the Zelda theme turned out great! Everyone loved the activities I threw together!

Finally a nice, warm, sunny day. And this coffee shop has the heat blasting.

i may be unserious, hysterical and woke, but my strategy of “taking trump seriously no matter how insane he sounds” has paid more analytical dividends than the alternatives

I feel bad… My daughter’s tamagotchi keeps dying in the middle of the night. Never makes it past day 3. She’s going to be upset waking up to another fatality. 😤

Woke up with a horrible headache, and the news isn't helping anything.

Truly terrifying.

More Zelda as the main character, and not a Link in sight! The Hyrule Warriors gameplay format isn't my favorite, but my first impression is that this looks amazing!

Just discovered a folder with hundreds of photos my college roommate took as the photographer at my sister’s wedding. Among them were early photos of my husband and me as a couple. I had no idea these photos existed, and it was awesome seeing our love captured on camera some 18 years later.

Ever since the days when I ran the website for my local newspaper (long before social media was a thing), I knew that the people who commented there were lunatics. Now that the daily headlines are on facebook, it's no surprise these loud, angry, and very terrible people are also vehemently MAGA.

The great thing about teaching at a French school is that there is one standard curriculum. This means I can find the information for whatever gaps I've got in my lessons pretty easily. The bad part is I teach in the SIA (American English) track, and none of this info is available in English.

I only got one poisson from a student today, but I managed to fool the whole class into thinking they had a test today. 😅

Half an hour until my husband and daughter get home... Will I take advantage of the cold, rainy afternoon by listening to some classical music and doing some writing, or will I scroll mindlessly on social media?

My ears are burning... Someone is talking about me.

I found out last week that I'm moving up to full time at work next school year. This in itself is amazing! But the schedule had to be moved around & now I'll be teaching English and History/Geography for three age groups. And instead of going to 18 contact hours (full-time), I'll be at 20.5. 😵‍💫

I don’t understand how I can sleep 8 full hours and feel like a truck hit me the next morning. Then sleep 4.5 hours the next day and feel like I’m ready to run a marathon.
