“The worst of the internet is continuously attacking the best of the internet. This is a distributed denial of service attack on the good parts of the World Wide Web.” adactio.com/journal/21831

You no longer need a plugin for checking color contrast in Figma! I love how so many tools have these checks integrated. No plugins, extensions or anything else needed! www.linkedin.com/posts/figma_... #accessibility #UXDesign #figma

If @wesbos.com says it, you better believe it: @tanstack.com Query is the best API in the world ❤️ 🌍 Link to episode: youtu.be/khUwj39q5PU?...

I’m quite proud that I’ve stood up for myself and my team at my job. It was stressful, but the outlook is now significantly better.

This CSS holographic effect by @hejchristian.com is amazing 😍 codepen.io/HejChristian...

Lovely episode of the @shoptalkshow.com podcast where @darn.es talks with @davatron5000.bsky.social and @chriscoyier.net about Nord Design System and web components.

The final of Milan–San Remo never disappoints, but this is the best one I’ve seen. #MilanSanRemo

I'm still in awe of all the advancements we've seen in #css over the past few years This is huge

Mickey 17 (2025, directed by Bong Joon Ho): ★★★½

I made this! Hoping to sell the pattern again soon.

Full-Stack developers writing HTML.

Last weekend, I've managed to beat my 10K running PR from 2017 by 25 seconds. I’m pretty proud of this.

My coworker @arie.ls has a new website with lovely micro-interactions, typography, and easter eggs: arielsalminen.com

Internal politics can be fatal to a design system

I've completed the Practical Accessibility course by @sarasoueidan.com and can recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about web accessibility and creating a more inclusive web. It's very well explained, and I love that it's also available in text and has closed captions. #a11y

I'm currently in the midst of rebuilding my personal website in @11ty.dev and thoroughly enjoying it.

Severance season 2 episode 7 floored me, it’s stunning. Directed by the cinematographer and it shows. Shooting the flashbacks on film to get a feeling of nostalgia was a great choice. #Severance

I have to take a moment to appreciate @sarasoueidan.com's post about setting up a screen reader testing environment. it continues to be an invaluable resource for me 🙏🏻 www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/testing...

Check out our newest proposal for customizable built-in elements: ElementInternals.type! Allows you to create custom elements that inherit the behaviors and properties of native HTML elements (like a split button that actually behaves as a real button). Please share your feedback on the repo.

Severance landed another stellar episode.

Finally finished Red Dead Redemption 2 on my PS5. Such a good story, especially in comparison to GTA 5, which I just couldn't get through and gave up on.

We have recently made some nice minor improvements and fixes to Nord based on support requests from consumers: nordhealth.design/changelog/

Dang I'm excited about new semantic attr() capabilities in CSS! I wrote a post about why this feature is so powerful, how it could change the way you build components, and how I would use it. Advanced attr() is rolling out in Chrome 133 starting next week 🥰 una.im/advanced-attr/

The Brutalist is outstanding. The run-time is daunting, but at least it has an intermission built-in. 4.5 stars out of 5 | #TheBrutalist #FilmSky

I thought remineralized water wouldn’t make a big difference for my coffee, because we have very good tap water in Utrecht, but I was wrong. I’m using ZeroWater with Lotus Water Drops. #Coffee

I'm pretty proud of this tree view component I helped to make. I wrote about the nuance of what went into it in the hopes that it can serve as a reference for others. #a11y github.blog/engineering/...

My Garmin watch keeps crashing with a blue triangle of death when trying to use the GPS. Apparently, it’s a global problem. Not a good day for Garmin: www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/01/garm...

Learnable by default. That’s what all languages, systems, and programs should aspire to: robinrendle.com/notes/learna...

I recently started the Practical Accessibility course by @sarasoueidan.com, and this quote by Cindy Li really stuck with me: “We’re all just temporarily abled”. Especially now that my partner has gotten a chronic illness last year, which disabled her in some ways.

It’s brilliant to see this out in the wild. My old team at HMRC built this interactive accessibility personas prototype to do online accessibility awareness sessions. It has since been iterated to include a dyscalculia persona.

A lot of people cannot grasp that their own personal and individual experience of the world is not universal, and they are totally comfortable showing immense cruelty to those whose experiences diverge from their own. This applies to so many issues that affect vulnerable people & it's a real shame!

“The 2024”: Twenty songs released in 2024 that I loved the most. Not ranked, but I put some thought into the track order. It's been a rough year for me, but at least we got the music. You can find links to playlists on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube in this blog post:
