Happy Black History Month. No one can diminish or take away what has existed and been celebrated for years. Nothing can erase history. But I will admit that the attempt at erasure of my people’s history as well as that of other marginalized groups has me feeling weepy and infuriated.

My mom had a small collection that used to be on the bookshelf headboard of my parents’ bed, and I used to sneak some and read them. Towards the end of high school, I started picking up ones in Walmart that looked interesting to me, and enjoyed a few. But really, 2017 was the year I locked in.

ICE is trying to deport Native American people to Mexico. This one from the Mescalero Apache Tribe. That's right. People indigenous to the United States, tribal members. ICE is trying to remove them from the US. This is the second verified incident I've heard about. We were here 1st. #ICE
