Feb. 24, 1925: The U.S. and Canada sign a treaty to resolve a 10-year dispute over border issues at the Lake of the Woods. The pact provides for regulating water levels and confirms U.S. possession of Minnesota's Northwest Angle, a geographic anomaly surrounded by Canadian land.

Feb. 24, 1925: Joseph White, a Canadian ace for the British in WWI credited with 22 victories, is killed when his Avro biplane collides with another aircraft over Camp Borden, Ontario. White, 28, perishes with a fellow officer, but the pilot of the other plane survives.
