Haha. It's so weird to think I got married today. Crazy. Happy, but crazy.

I upgraded to 64gb of ram for the hopes of VFIO but I ran into an issue. I really need another drive for more storage.. I'm getting married in a few days and applying for my visa so that & my IBM keyboard adapter will have to wait quite a while I haven't been back on windows since the new year!

Roses are red Stockings are nylon YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS

So, that all being said: when can I expect wedding gifts? :p

I ended up sticking with NixOS on my main desktop finally. The reason? VFIO was much more satisfying. I added a second 2070 SUPER to my rig, and I had two. Solving the same ID problem is fascinating. https://github.com/nomsi/nixos/blob/main/systems/main/boot.nix

I literally cannot sit on NixOS for more than a week on my main system and I do not know why

Moonlight on my 3DS let me play Skyrim and no one can stop me.

Found these delightful model M RJ45 terminal keyboards. Will restore and use.

Be on your guards, and remember: Libs of TikTok and members of the Proud Boys are terrorists. Not extremists, terrorists.

Far right accounts will be hunting for people on social to post about and being attention to so they get their documents revoked. Far right accounts like libs of tiktok are essentially private stasi on the payroll of the oligarchs.

I'm getting a second 2070 super to VFIO Tiny10 for VR because my niche OS doesn't support the niche VR things I do

I'm saving up then hunting for a Compaq portable. Don't ask.

i am going to pkill -9 myself

I've been daily driving Linux now for 2 weeks and so far, nothing out of the ordinary. All my apps work (yes even my 32b DOS apps!!) happiness!

I like it!

I unfortunately have to jump back to arch+nix for a while longer. Ran into issues I just don't want to sit here all day fixing, but you know what I love? Git pulling my setup and it just *works*

Okay ran into a funny issue on #NixOS: GNOME 47 fails to run with SteamVR (crashes session completely), KDE (my main DE anyway) works fine but when Steam requests permission it fails if you installed it under GNOME like I did. It's solved with a reinstall, though!

Is Ubuntu really that bad these days? I remember using Ubuntu 7.10 and getting my free CD and stickers; and having a great time with compiz silliness

I really like NixOS. It's like designing the OS for me and me alone. It makes me happy that I get to tinker like this again! I would also like to learn something like sway or i3 or hyprland but I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to give up my KDE/gnome lifestyle just yet!

Little fun fact about me: my parents were anti-tech in the 90s and 00s, my first computer was my grandma's att 3b1 she had from her neighbor who left it to her so I'd go to her house, and she gave me the manuals and I fell in love in 2002, she got me this ratty 8088 that had SLS on it! 1/?

As a part of my new years resolution to learn Vim, I went with NeoVim! I'm so used to nano and emacs this is going to be pretty fun. Next up is learning Blender over Autodesk!

She ain't much, but she is mine. I'm being brought back to my KDE 3 days on Slackware, spending about 6 days trying to get RealTek wifi drivers and Ethernet drivers to work only having to rip the windows one and use some random sketchy software to install the driver files only to brick it all.

I've been having a lot of fun on NixOS and setting things up the way I want but I can't shake this feeling, I want to try Arch w/ nix and get a better understanding of everything. My surface though, has been liberated with a complete arch setup for work! I'm even learning NeoVim!

Dear Nix community, as you've all been very helpful and wonderful; should I install all my apps using home manager in little modules to keep it clean and nice for generations or should I just stick with the basic configuration?

Update: temporarily destroyed my nix install with arch to decrypt my windows drives so I can get my games back

If NixOS is declarative and doesn't follow user space standards for most Linux distributions, would I struggle with Steam updates every like 6 months?

I finally jumped from using Nix on *nix and WSL to just replacing W11 entirely with NixOS. Home-manager is really nice and I like I can replicate what I do on anything. Wish me luck for attempting VR this new years

Before surgery: for 2 years I was asked and sometimes begged by hospital staff: "freeze your sperm" like no, guys, men doctor nurses, I won't. I don't want kids, I very much dislike kids. And it was very weird of you to ask constantly.

Let's be real if you constantly ask why the people in power why we don't have UBI or Universal Healthcare in America, spoiler: it's because racism.

Aaron has to go.
